Dream Barndominium Timber Frame Front Porch Build, start to finish! Awesome!

What happens here

Pre-poured concrete piers form the base for the timber posts. These piers include embedded metal post bases designed to securely attach the timber uprights. For this project, a Simpson Strong-Tie post base is used, which involves securing the base to the concrete pier with specialized lag screws (e.g., 'Titen Turbo' screws) and an additional washer. Two pilot holes are drilled into the concrete, and the lag screws are driven in with an impact driver to snug the base into place. Once aligned, the remaining fasteners can be tightened. The pier itself is constructed with a large foundation underneath, reinforced with rebar, and typically 8 inches thick to provide robust support and stability for the heavy timber frame.

Goal: Create secure attachment points for the timber posts.
