Building My Wife Her Dream Mudroom

What happens here

First, use a stud finder to locate a suitable position for an electrical outlet within one of the tall cabinet sections. Cut a precise hole in the drywall for the outlet box. Feed electrical wiring from an existing nearby outlet (like a refrigerator outlet) through the wall to the new location and install the electrical outlet. For the benchtop, prepare pre-laminated pine sheets by cutting them to the exact dimensions needed for the mudroom bench. Join the pieces using pocket hole joinery and wood glue to create a seamless L-shaped benchtop. Sand the entire benchtop smooth. Test various wood stains on an offcut piece of the same pine to determine the desired finish. Once chosen, apply the stain to the entire benchtop, ensuring even coverage. After the stain dries, carefully position the benchtop onto the base cabinets and secure it from underneath with screws.

Goal: Install a new electrical outlet within one of the tall cabinet sections for charging, then pre-drill, join, stain, and install the pre-laminated pine benchtop.

on top here i figured out what i want to do with this little cabin right there we're going to turn it into like a broom and mop holder so we're going to have our like dyson vac and all that stuff now it needs an outlet to charge luckily on the other side of this wall is a refrigerator outlet so i'm going to put a new outlet there after the bench is done let me show what i'm using for bench material so these are pre-fabricated or pre-laminated sheets of pine i bought two of them they're pricey they're like 50 bucks we're gonna cut it 45 degree there use pocket holes and glue to secure it chop off this end and i'll move it over here because this has to be longer and they don't make it longer than this okay so while this is drying the glue let's go install our electrical plug and just like that we're going to feed our cables through on the other side to tether into the kitchen everything's sanded to 220 grit everything's looking beautiful we're talking with the mrs about this thing we're going to use and i've learned my lesson give her example the same wood species this is a cut off i wrote down some of the stains that i had she is a big fan of this one right here this is a semi-transparent original oak i believe that's what it's called which means it's going to get lighter as we apply it here we'll do one quick application let it dry and then install it i am going to secure all these loose pocket hole slots already here i'm going to use my square here make sure it's nice and square then we'll secure the top make sure it's trimmed out and then we'll put the outlet in [Music]
