Remove Cartridge Retaining Clip

What happens here

Identify the retaining clip, which is a small metal wire holding the cartridge in place. Using a Phillips head screwdriver, carefully pry it out. The video suggests using smaller channel locks if available, or a screwdriver, to push and pull the clip out. Exercise caution to avoid losing this clip into the wall cavity.

Goal: A small retaining clip holds the Moen 1222 Posi-Temp cartridge in the valve body, and this clip must be removed before the cartridge can be pulled out.
