What happens here
Using a small hammer and a pry bar (or a dead blow hammer), carefully tap around the outer ring of the planetary gear assembly to loosen it from the axle housing. This ring often fits tightly due to rust and old grease. Once loose, pull the ring completely off the axle assembly.
Goal: Remove the outer ring of the planetary gear assembly.
