What happens here

Capacitors can store a dangerous electrical charge even after power is disconnected. Using an insulated screwdriver, carefully short the terminals of the capacitor. Place the metal shaft of the screwdriver across two terminals at a time to safely discharge any residual electricity. You may hear a small pop or see a spark, which is normal. Repeat for all pairs of terminals to ensure it's fully discharged.
