What happens here

This project demonstrates how to quickly fix a common outdoor faucet leak originating from the packing nut. The primary solution involves simply tightening the packing nut with an adjustable wrench, often resolving the issue without needing to replace parts. If tightening doesn't work, replacing the packing material is suggested as the next step.

Okay, so we showed up to a faucet that my friend has turned on. She's got a drip system going and you can see it's totally dripping out of here. Putting my finger right here, you can see that it's dripping back off of that packing nut. So what we can try to do is just take this and get that shut down and see if that doesn't just fix it all, which it does. One quick little turn of the packing nut. And we've got everything dry now. That is pretty tight and we've still got two threads to go there. We're not going to change that. We're going to mess with it. That's a scenario. Sometimes if you just don't know how simple it is, just a matter of tightening up the packing nut. If not, you can buy packing. You can buy some packing different sizes to to put in there and get that tightened back up. But in this case, didn't need it at all.
