How to Convert a 3-Handle Shower Faucet to a Single-Handle Valve · Step 8 of 9
In this video
For holes larger than fist-sized, create a custom drywall patch using scrap wood as backing. Cut a square of drywall slightly larger than the damaged area. Cut a smaller square within the larger piece, leaving a frame. Remove the inner square, creating a frame. Secure the wood backing to the wall studs with screws. Apply a generous amount of drywall compound to the perimeter and inside of the patch, then firmly press the drywall frame into the mud. Use a putty knife to apply more mud and cover the entire patch. Let it dry completely.
