Step 2 · Remove the Old Window Sash

If it's a double-hung window, carefully remove the sash weights or springs. Then, use a utility knife to cut any remaining sealant and pry the sash out of the frame. For casement windows, you may need to unscrew hinges or crank mechanisms before removing the sash. Repeat for all sashes.
