Gently insert each labeled wire into the correct terminal on the new thermostat's base. The terminals are typically labeled with letters matching the wire labels. Push the wire firmly into the terminal until it is securely held. Refer to your initial photograph and the smart thermostat's manual to confirm correct placement, especially for wires like 'R', 'G', 'Y', 'W', and 'C'. Some thermostats may have push-in terminals, while others require tightening a small screw.
