Step 4 · Photograph Existing Wiring

With the old thermostat cover removed, you will see the wires connected to terminals labeled with letters (e.g., R, G, Y, W, C). Use your smartphone or a camera to take a high-resolution picture of the wiring, ensuring all labels and wire connections are clearly visible. This photo will be invaluable when connecting the wires to the new smart thermostat.
