Step 3 · Remove the Escutcheon Plate

This is the step people usually slow down on. Go finger-tight first, then a quarter turn. No rush — replay the clip whenever it helps.

Take off the escutcheon plate – the decorative cover surrounding the shower handle. It might be secured by screws or clips. Remove it carefully to expose the shower valve cartridge.
