Step 3 · Select Appropriate Hanging Hardware

Identify the weight of your picture frame. Check the wall type (drywall, plaster, concrete, wood). Select hardware rated to hold at least double the weight of your picture. For lighter frames, a picture hook and nail may suffice. For heavier frames, consider screws with anchors (e.g., toggle bolts, screw-in anchors) appropriate for your wall material. Adhesive strips are an option for very light, small items and temporary installations, but verify their weight capacity and suitability for your wall surface.
