Step 2 · Mark the Hanging Point

Measure the distance from the top of the picture frame to the hanging point (e.g., wire, D-ring, sawtooth hanger) on the back. Then, measure that same distance down from the top edge of where you want the frame to sit on the wall. Make a light pencil mark at this spot. If using a level, you can also mark the top center of the frame and then use the level to extend a horizontal line.
