Step 5 · Reassemble and Test

Once the linkage is cleaned, re-insert it back into the overflow pipe. Guide the plunger down until it seats properly in the drain tee below. Align the overflow plate with the screw holes on the tub wall. Re-insert and tighten the screws, but do not overtighten, as this can crack the fiberglass or porcelain of the tub. Flip the trip-lever up and down to ensure the linkage moves smoothly.
