Step 4 · Measure and Cut Supply Line and Valve Covers

This is the step people usually slow down on. Go finger-tight first, then a quarter turn. No rush — replay the clip whenever it helps.

Next, address the water supply lines and valves. The kit typically includes two valve covers and two lengths of tubing for the supply lines. First, fit the molded valve cover over one of the angle stops. It should be a snug fit. Then, use the tape measure to determine the length of the flexible supply line from the top of the valve cover to the connection point at the faucet's underside. Cut a piece of the vinyl supply line cover to this length using the utility knife. Repeat this measuring and cutting process for the second supply line and valve.
