Step 2 · Remove the Old Tub Spout
Insert the correctly sized Allen wrench into the setscrew on the underside of the tub spout. Turn the wrench counter-clockwise to loosen the screw. You do not need to remove the screw completely, just loosen it enough (2-3 full turns) to release its grip on the copper pipe. Once loosened, firmly grip the spout and pull it straight off the pipe. You may need to gently twist it back and forth to break any seal from old caulk or mineral deposits.
