Step 4 · Drain Water Heater (if replacing element)

This is the step people usually slow down on. Go finger-tight first, then a quarter turn. No rush — replay the clip whenever it helps.

If the heating element is faulty, drain the water heater before replacing it. This can be done by attaching a hose to the drain valve at the bottom of the tank and running it outside.
