Step 3 · Draining the Water Heater (If Replacing Element)

This is the step most people slow down on. Take it one move at a time — there’s no rush, and you can rewind the clip as many times as you need.

If your heating element is faulty, drain the water heater before replacing it. Attach a hose to the drain valve at the bottom of the tank and run the other end outside to a drain. Open the drain valve and a hot water faucet to speed up drainage.
