(10,162 characters)hey there folks this is josh stoneyridge farmer welcome back to another sunny tool tuesdays here on the stoney ridge farm and we've got skitty bop our john deere 250 skid steer sitting out here with the pallet forks on it it also has the grosser tracks on it those things are awesome i'll post links to the pallet forks to all the tools that are being used today except for you can't buy a 250 skid steer anymore today's tool tuesday and what we're going to be doing is a lot of farm cleanup over the next few weeks here on the stoney ridge farm what we have is called an atta grapple for pallet forks so in other words you can take any set of pallet forks basically any set of pallet forks and turn it into a grapple for under a thousand bucks we're going to assemble this thing we're going to show you how it all works and we're going to put it to work here today on tool tuesday on the stoney ridge all right let's jump right into the meat and potatoes right here check out the farmer tan by the way holy cow casper the ghost is under my shirt here's what we've got guys this is a heavy heavy duty grapple attachment that slides right up on these pallet forks again it's from precision manufacturing it's american steel it's made right in missouri this thing also has the optional tree holder right here i guess it's what you call the tree holder so we'll be picking up a log here in just a little bit on the other side of the farm and we'll show you how easy it is to buck up a log by using that instead of having to pick up the log or dip your saw into the dirt so that's pretty cool the basic parts of it is the grapple assembly you've got your pallet forks and these pallet forks are also from precision manufacturing you can order this whole setup and a hydraulic cylinder right here so that's it we've got the grapple the tree grabber and the hydraulic cylinder now this does not come with your hydraulic hoses so you'll have to design basically your hydraulic hoses to your tractor however you want that configuration there are just so many different configurations for hydraulic setups on tractors skid steers and all that what we have is some hoses for a skid steer quick attach so the flat faced hoses and we're going to install those on the cylinder show you guys exactly what you'd have to do so this is your hydraulic cylinder pretty simple what you do is you pull these two pins right here and take them out just like so and carry this portion right here to your local parts supplier there is a plug here and a plug right here and you'll size everything appropriately to what you need for your application for our needs we've already done it and we're going to take out the plugs right here and we're going to install our hydraulic lines going to remove the plugs pretty simple they're just loosely in there odds are it's been pre-lubricated at the factory there we go so what i'm installing are the flat face skid steer type connectors there is a male and a female end right here that's what i'm installing okay so we'll set this over to the side and here are the ends that we need to thread into our swivel head right here we need to thread that into our hydraulic cylinder guys let me know should i use teflon tape on the hydraulic system this is teflon tape that's rated for oil there we go snug this guy down i do recommend when you build your hydraulic lines that you get the swivel connectors like this so that it swivels as this thing moves because it's going to constantly be moving up and down so you need that good swivel get the good ones spend the money and get the right thing that's for sure carry your wrench with you just in case we've got everything snug down but taking that wrench with you might save you a trip back to the garage or to the shop or to the barn so the next step we're going to fire up skitty bop we're going to drive our pallet forks right through these slots right down here you'll get a close-up of so you can see we're almost all the way up on the pallet fork but i wanted to make sure that i didn't pinch my hoses so i hopped off real quick and i'm going to run my hoses through where i need to in order to keep them safely away from my brush and trees and debris that i'll be working with so we'll set those over here and plug those up here in just a second we're actually going to slide this back this grapple or a pallet fork out of grapple we're gonna slide it back just a little bit okay and there are two mechanisms that hold this thing in place there's a pin system on the back side and there's our twist knob on each side right down here where i'm at right now so that again is one of the reasons why you might need to keep that adjustable wrench with you to squeeze that down so it will not come off of the pallet fork if you appropriately install it and you don't abuse it okay so this handle right here you snug it down hand tight and it wouldn't hurt to give it an extra little turn i've got a 7 8 inch wrench right here and i'm going to snug it down just an extra little turn just to make sure for peace of mind i don't think it really has to be that tight then you have this long pin it goes right in underneath here and right through the hole on the other side if i can find it there and then i've got a another pin that goes down on the that side okay we'll repeat this process over on the other side you've got two options here you have option one is the outside and option two you can see another pocket just below my finger right here on the inside in my opinion we want the grapple to be as wide as possible so we can pick up as much debris as possible so you decide how you want to configure yours in case your grapple doesn't go quite as wide as this one all right let's plug her up and see her in action always always always keep a rag handy when you're connecting and disconnecting hydraulic lines because you're always going to make a little bit of a mess these are the most awesome rags i've ever found i'll post a link to these rags man they are relatively inexpensive lint free good for cleaning grease oil hands glass everything and you can wash them and reuse them which is awesome all about saving here on the farm now let's hope these things aren't as hateful as the last time i tried to hook something up i think they're going to be just fine yeah there goes number one female and ah hot dog always a thrill when the hydraulic lines go on right first time we're going to expect a little bit of hesitation because we've got to fill the hydraulic lines in the hydraulic cylinder here so this will be the first time we fire it up expect some hesitation and then it should run smoothly and quickly we'll fire up the 250 here man that thing jumps up gotta be gentle very nice very nice let's take this thing and put it to work [Music] guys [Music] totally totally impressive guys check that out it just picked it up with the greatest of ease you can see this attachment's well worth it i think it's worth its weight in gold especially if you're a firewood guy this is again the log grabber portion and this is the grapple portion so it's an add-on right there totally totally worth it i will say this i made a boo-boo and learn from my mistakes so when you get your hydraulic fitting get the one that has the little hole like this okay don't get the one with the big hole because if you do this thing is really really jumpy so i skipped the installation of that little fitting and i'm paying for it right now so i have to just be real gentle and feather it it's not a big deal but i would suggest installing that critter right there but man look at that that is an absolute beast dude we're gonna bust out the husqvarna chainsaw husqvarna tell me if i'm saying it wrong we're gonna bust out the husky and get busy on this log awesome so i'm that guy safety sam i am that guy i'm wearing chainsaw chaps or shops tell me how you say it and today we're going to fire up the 572 xp right here this thing is a beast of a chainsaw and again i worked in the hospital for 13 years i know what chainsaw injuries look like and i know what faces look like that have been kicked back in the face so be careful wear your hearing protection be smart made a deal with myself that i would not fire up a chainsaw without having my protective gear on at least gloves steel toe boots chainsaw chaps helmet face shield and hearing protection that's my deal to myself you guys can do whatever great father's day gift idea if father's day hasn't come up yet hearing protection the 3m hearing protection the work tunes that i use in the skid steer awesome this stuff's awesome i'll post links to all of it down the video description it's tool tuesday [Applause] [Music] right [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] nice daddy likey that thing is awesome man oh well guys that's it that's tool tuesday that is the added grapple from precision manufacturing i'll post a link to it in the video description i will tell you i had to do a little bit of adjusting um definitely you want to use the smaller of the hydraulic fittings if you possibly can if i were going to use this firewood up at the house i would have taken it up to the house and cut it up that's the benefit of having this thing you can take your logs to where you stash your firewood instead of just cutting it up in the woods and loading it on the truck so it makes life super duper easy guys thanks a lot please pound that like button we still got a little bit of a mess to clean up right here you can see so we'll probably scoop this stuff up and take it off and put it in a burn pile over here we burn our brush in the cow pasture okay the reason i do that so the cows will eat the charcoal the charcoal is a natural dewormer that's what we do guys thanks a lot please found that like button jump in subscribe the channel and join me again here on tool tuesday on the stoney ridge let me start that over there folks this is snitch right here we got i'm getting ready to hiccup dude i feel it coming i feel it coming i feel the hiccups coming a lighter doozy versus hey everybody my head's big hey
