What happens here

This project outlines the professional installation of two Tesla electric vehicle wall connectors in a garage. It involves accessing the main electrical panel to install new circuit breakers, routing dedicated electrical lines using Romex cable through the basement to the garage, and then installing each charger with EMT conduit and proper wiring techniques, including grounding and torquing connections. The process emphasizes safety and adherence to electrical standards.

I added two electric vehicle chargers in this home for $3,000. This took me about 4 hours to complete. As an electrician, you are paying for my years of experience and advanced tools, not for the hours spent. So, the first thing I do is I go to the customer's main electrical panel box and I install my two circuit breakers, each EV charger having its own circuit breaker. I put each charger on a 40 amp double pole circuit breaker due to load calculations. The customer had a 200 amp panel and we can't overload it. And then I ran my two electrical lines using white 82 Romex cable, which is rated for residential basement. I stapled the wire to the joist and shot both electrical lines out to the garage using a hole saw. Here I'm about to install the first Tesla wall connector. I installed 3/4 inch EMT conduit and stripped the Romex cable back and I sleeved it into the conduit to keep a continuous hardwire connection. First Tesla charger done. Now, this is the second one. I made sure to ground my metal box since I'm switching from Romex into EMT conduit. I then torque my wire connections, my two hot wires L1 and L2, and my bare copper ground wire. We are almost done. I can smell the finish line. And then I use my Tesla security bit screwdriver, so no random Joe Schmo can steal the unit or get zapped. And boom, we are finished. The two Tesla EV chargers installed, one for the husband and one for the wife. The job was complete and customer was satisfied and that's how you make $3,000 in one day as an electrician.
