Our day in the life of an electrician installing a 200 amp service in a home for $5,000. So, let's get right to it. So, today I'm wearing my Hex Armor boots. These are comfortable. I love how they have a boa lacing system for easy tightening and untightening. So, here's what we're doing today. My brother Ken and I are installing a new 200 amp service for this home. I'm doing the outside work and he's doing the inside work. I'm currently wiring the exterior emergency disconnect as these disconnects are now required for every residential home next to the utility meter in New Jersey. Why? I'm not sure why, but we have to do it cuz it's an updated code. I'm using my cable stripper tool to strip my four lot aluminum wires. I could have stripped the jacket with a razor knife, but this tool makes it go faster. Work smarter, not harder. Boom, we got the wires all terminated. I put on the cover of the exterior disconnect. Now, I go to inside the home to help my bro Ken as he was wiring up the new 200 amp electrical panel. I start knocking out the circuit breaker slots of the panel cover and labeling the circuits. Using my lineman's to make the knockouts. After that was done, we turn on the main power of the home, put the panel cover on, and guys, it was time to get paid. Took 10 hours.
