Engaging the Shift Lock Release and Shifting Gears

With the small cover removed and the shift lock release button exposed, ensure your foot is firmly pressing the brake pedal. This is a crucial safety measure to prevent the car from rolling unexpectedly. Insert the flathead screwdriver into the exposed hole and press down on the shift lock release button. While keeping the button depressed with the screwdriver, you can now move the gear shifter from 'Park' to 'Neutral' or any other desired gear. This action disengages the electronic shift interlock, allowing you to manually move the transmission even with a dead battery or other electrical issues.
