Where did the Customer Service go??

live sweetness all right well however the one person in here that takes a guy here coming live from my newly cleaned out office you know spare bedroom we're just trying to get that changed over hooked up need a little space so you know I wanted to talk today about customer service because customer service to me has been I don't know man as a small business owner like I'm not a small business owner anymore but as a small business owner I really loved the customer service aspect like getting to meet people like performing a service for somebody is awesome and I feel like that service that that want and that need to help people out it's kind of like diminished a little bit its kind of seems to me like it's taken over by money and it's just all about making the buck like I understand that money is important but to me it's not the end-all be-all right like helping people out like that human the human connection that you find in that's what I love there's so many interesting people out there man I mean I could sit here and I can tell you stories for days about people that I've ran into and that I've met and it's awesome right so many people are doing so many cool things in their house and you know they veidt's you in and you know they're letting you become a little part of their life for a short time right and it's just unfortunate when somebody comes in and they don't respect you or they don't respect your kids or you know your pets or they do some shoddy work man and I hate that I hate it if you're absolutely right mechanic Mikey's a dying serviceman like unfortunately it is right I mean you know we got people coming into the trades I mean I know it's slower than it ever has been before but there are people coming into the trades right and there are people that are doing these things but there's something to be said about the customer service side of it and to me it just kind of breaks my heart a little bit right so this week I've been over the last two weeks now actually I've had a guy at my house doing some HVAC word for me right and he was referred by a friend and I'm thinking man okay well you know and I really I like my friend a lot I respect his opinion as a plumber he's a great new construction plumber he does awesome work and I mean he does like five bath houses by himself like all day long and he's great so I got this guy's number from him thinking okay this is good well you know it's not been so great and I know that I look at myself and the way that I would do things in the way that I would treat people and you know that is a hard thing to go and put on somebody else I understand that but at the same time we should be able to to do that right you should be able to look at somebody and expect what they say they're gonna give you out of their work we've got some peeps in the house mechanic Mike thank you for being here Stoney Ridge I love it if you guys don't know my friend Josh the Stoney Ridge farmer like really I mean I'm sure that all seven of you in here know him couple of him but like check this dude out I mean he's always great he's funny he is an amazing teacher honestly you you might not think you want to know about farming until you listen to him start talking about farming and then you want to know cuz he just sucks you right it's awesome for kids in a farm thank you dude Jared love it oh yeah Casa three bees I love it man whoo I can't do the whoo all right but I love it so I know looking at my title like kind of a rant like I'm really it's just a bad experience right like but it's one after another after another and it's hard I can imagine I mean I'm a first-time homeowner right now too and so this is my first house and there's things that I don't really want to tackle right like I'm busy I've got a full time job and then I do the YouTube thing and I don't have time to install a frickin you know a new furnace a new a/c run new ducting you know do all this stuff and so I'm untrusting somebody else to come to my house to do it and to do a good job for me and when that doesn't happen man like that is really hard right like that's a hard thing I'm really I try to be very mellow I'm a pretty mellow dude and I don't like getting mad about stuff but men when you take a piece of MDF out of my scrap and you put it underneath the the fake piece of concrete that they put the air condenser on these days and you say oh that's how I'm gonna level it like come on man we're in freaking Washington we're in Seattle bro it rained so much what is a piece of MDF gonna do setting out in the rain on a piece of concrete it's gonna swell up it's not gonna be leveled for long for it's crazy you know like who does that okay so I just you know my thing with this is like talk these people said like let them know that hey I have expectations for for quality like I'm a quality person you look around my house you see that it's pretty nice right I mean you might see kid toys and some dirt and food scraps here and there but you know what like I mean overall it's kind of nice I'm not trying to Marie Guinea you know get jacked up here like ah I don't want you to come to my house and break something and then say oh well I'm leaving that up to you right because if I came to somebody's house and I accidentally broke something well then I'm going to take responsibility I'm going to do something with it it seems like it's just lost on people these days like whenever I asked something about that I'm putting somebody out you know and my thing is is if you guys are out there are going to have somebody come to your house and do some work for you well then hold them to the standard that you want to hold them to because ultimately it's your money you're the ones that are hooking this up right that's what I'm looking at and I just think that everybody deserves that fair shake and that the contractors that are out there doing this work like if one person holds them that standard and then the next and then the next well maybe they'll start to catch on and change their ways a little bit at least we can all hope so right at least that's the way I'm looking at it you know as I uh I actually called Stoney Ridge and we talked about this a little bit I might what's the deal and he's like hi now dude like it's just sometimes you know you get that and it's it's a bummer but in his thing is hold your ground right like the customer service and you know the last time I did a live a live chat Stoney Ridge asked me to tell a good Josh story well you guys watch Stoney Ridge so you know he's a man of principle right and I'll tell a good story because I thought of one and I told my wife the other day and she just kind of started laughing so it's one of those things it's a big group of us a huge group of us were all out to dinner and we had somewhere to go but man I think we sat there for probably a good hour before we ever got our meal and it was all this crazy and like Josh was just kind of being calm and and you can tell this started to get a little agitated by it and like as I think our time rolled around that we were already supposed to leave he got a little more agitated by it and then he just kind of said hey I want to talk to the manager and I don't actually know what he said to the manager because I was on the other end of the table but I do know that when we left there they were very apologetic and we didn't pay for anything and it was a monstrous group of people so you know it's one of those things like just if you can't accommodate well then just like that's it say you can't accommodate they it's not gonna be it actually would be much better to me if you tell me we couldn't handle a big party right now than to get there and have to wait freaking you know two hours for food like it doesn't make any sense right um so Vegas you find bad service everywhere but you know I just wanted everybody out there to like when you when you're inviting those people into your house like ask some questions and if they're not personable and you don't feel comfortable well then don't let them do the work it doesn't matter there's somebody out there that can do the work for you I know that man I love it we're going strong and always get horrible service eat at home like absolutely dude you know we eat at home more now than ever because of the Kovan thing but we really just started eating at home anyway it's I don't know man every baby it's just us really maybe it is just us seriously every anniversary that my wife and I have ever went out we've been married for six years now every anniversary that we've went out we've always one of us has been eating excuse me and the other one has had to wait for the food to get redone because it was it's it is a joke really a total joke oh I totally so I totally remember when joshed was the mr. Fixit handyman I remember him being just all-around giving giving bids and moving and shaking he always had some stuff going on he was working on a hotel I think he tried to actually get me to do some plumbing for him one time but back then I was not I just wasn't even thinking about doing sideward right just very sidetracked sometimes so Stoney Ridge says sometimes he didn't work for food for poor people right and that's that's another thing to me that is awesome right that's something that that's totally right out of my playbook too right if I went to somebody's house even if they weren't poor if I went to somebody's house and they had a small thing like if they needed a toilet seat put on if it was an elderly person or something I don't care if I drove an hour to get out there I'm not gonna charge somebody to do that so I totally would just take cookies or something right like it doesn't matter I'm not charging somebody even my minimum charge to change out a toilet seat it doesn't make sense man and let's see what else we got here in the comments Mike that's great I get horrible and I'm the cook [Music] yeah there's some of that here it's in a while usually it's pretty good I didn't stoneybridge says he pays for this college with it like yeah man like that's it's a real thing dude like if you do good work it comes around right so I never I never advertised my business I always it was always word of mouth honestly it was always a lot of prayer to like I always pray before I went out to do work and it just kind of always seemed to come to me man and I like that it it made me feel good about the work I was doing about the people that I was doing it for you always run across the bad egg and it's only been a couple times in my plumbing career when I own my business that I actually had to tell somebody I am so sorry I'm not I'm done after this job just don't call me anymore like that's it you know I had a I had a lady one time that I I went to her house I was only gonna charge her another hundred bucks to cut into her wall she had CPVC I felt bad for him you know explain to him hey I could with some parts it's gonna be a little extra money well didn't like the little extra money so then sooner her like buff husband comes on his motorcycle and tries to intimidate me telling me that oh I've never seen contractors do this more than anywhere else than around here and I mean a hundred dollars you're not even gonna get a plumber to smile at you around here for a hundred bucks these days right and so I mean it was a couple hours of work for me plus I had to let the glue dry on the crab that's another rant for another day as CPVC but it's crazy man and the guy like one of the chest-to-chest me over it and I'm going look here's deal I'm gonna fix your work just do me a favor don't call me anymore all right and now we can valet can start going through this process again and trying to find somebody good because I mean they thought I ripped him off over a hundred bucks when really all I was trying to do is help so yeah let's read some more comments here and Fred sweet says I take my way of living and into consideration I don't work for free but I'm willing to barter and that's another one man I absolutely do I I love bartering I actually hold on if I can turn this around real quick this right here is a 27 inch MacBook MacBook horrible story early Christmas present but I went to this dude's house he was a bigger dude and he would he in his bathroom he would peed all over the floor cuz he couldn't see the middle of the night he couldn't really see where he was aim and he peed everywhere well so they had those stick on tiles over linoleum you know as a flip house and all those were bubbling up and came up and it was nasty and I said dude you're gonna need a new floor like because it went down and through there downloaded linoleum it was bad like you're gonna need a new floor I'm not putting your toilet back on today and the dude lost it he's like no man my mom's coming this weekend and I can't share a bathroom with her seriously I pee everywhere so he's like you do me a favor I'll pay you extra just clean it up hook it up and he did pay me the extra to clean it up and do it all but then he also when I was leaving gave me that monitor and you can't say no he's like Merry Christmas man like thank you very much for hooking this up and one of the worst jobs done but you know I mean he needed help so why not help them and that Mike you're right that is killing things the sense of entitlement you know I don't know when it so with that like I do see it man I see it in the way like some kids are and the way some people have acted towards me when going to their house but really for the most part you know doing a good job for somebody and just being personable it seemed like you know they they really just been grateful and that's nice and the mechanic yeah dude CVV CPVC complete crap dude yea that is a whole nother thing I just watch the video that had about a million views on it almost a million views and I just had to start going the comments man cuz cuz the dude was saying that that's what they remodeled houses with still and I'm going no dude nobody should be remodeling with that there's a class-action lawsuit like I have friends that completely repipe homes all the time because of that stuff it's junk it is crazy I'm sorry yeah it's kind of hard to listen to a plumber talk while you're eating hey Steve I'm glad you're here well don't go saying the worst thing you've ever done I remember having to deal with the famous oh dude yeah oh so so Frederick sweet he's uh he's about my friends from my Afghanistan days right so I spent a year as a contractor in Afghanistan and what he's talking about there is frickin pee tubes having a frickin deal with freakin pee tube so what they do is they just freakin find a spot kind of in a remote location out on it like a little Forward Operating Base and they pound a freaking piece of PVC into the ground and that's just what guys wouldn't go in all the time and let me tell you that was a funky little area the hall is nasty oh you'd like to borrow some chickens for some sr-71 uh well I guess a lot of you dudes have some chickens dude needs to sit down to pee you're absolutely right right his way homestead and man commander bacon dude I dig you bro like you make me laugh I love the name your funny cat commander bacon actually has reached out to me on a couple issues I'm still thinking man if your if that water line on your fridge if you if you defrost your freezer and that falls out and it actually works for a little while I feel like it's getting frozen in there somewhere I'm not 100% positive without getting some hands on it right but I would think so you see whatwhat's time we looking at here I got I got a few more minutes Akana told my wife I'd cut it at a half hour just cuz she took the kids away because if not I can tell you little fix it would have been in here running amok I am a hundred percent positive that he's not a little tears since I got home it's great man it's great when you walk up you see this kid with a rake in the yard he's just raking away and he's like alright I need to go get the weed saying I don't even know what this little things called a little diamond shape and it just is supposed to be like some kind of a wieder and I mean he just sees something with the pointy edge that he can jam into the ground and uh I don't know he's funny that way he just always want to try something out and do something new we might be doing a try to repair our scale video apparently it broke and he's like dad can we fix this well give it a shot we'll see and man I'm just trying to think of just something else you know I so I had another couple conversations and I don't know if any you guys go to Dutch brothers but I'm personally I'm not a coffee drinker but you know one of my friends we were talking about customer service today and he's like you know that's one of those things that he's like I didn't realize about Dutch brothers he's like there's a person standing there while other people are making coffee just chatting man I mean they take your money or your money has already taken before you come to the counter but this person is just they kind of hire a personable person to sit and chat with you and that's another thing that I love man like when you go out even if fast-food restaurant right if somebody's gonna sit there and just chat with you just for a second be friendly and my case or anything else I can get for you make sure your orders right like that stuff's awesome to me like I just wish people would be a little bit more outgoing that way I have a Frigidaire refrigerator with a new ice maker and it keeps over making ice oh man it's oh it won't it won't kick the little arm off we'll have to maybe maybe PM me or something we can talk about that that's an interesting thing and you're right mechanics they should not make PVC anymore man that stuff is crazy sweet coffee jobs and even where I have to the green bean yeah do you know there's so many things that you can take away from the Afghanistan experience right like one of those things man so being a prior military guy and you know at the time I had a I had a lot of my friends that were deploying going over there and so you know I said you know what like why not why not I leave for a year as well and go over and hook this up and I really my mom career military woman as well she did not want me to to go over there at all she kinda was like no not into this Brian but one thing and I I don't know how I could ever have kept this promise but she's like the only thing I don't want you to do if you go over there is the convoy right and I have a bunch of IOT friends and like IEDs are very real it's dangerous it's crazy like I'm not in a hostel man and I didn't want to convoy either well luckily I got tasked to this job where all we did was take helicopters and airplanes places right and so there was a lot of cool experiences I've met a lot of amazing military people there that just were awesome and you know we were there doing a good job like I was a plumber I helped do all kinds of plumbing stuff I was a team lead where I ran a group of guys every trade and we went and we tried to hook up fobs the best we could you know with power and we we decked out connexes with AC units and what else not sheetrock a plywood and you know insulation and just tried to make things the best we possibly could for these dudes and I loved that oh you put a urinal in the bathroom in your building so when you're out building that's awesome dude oh and so so I'm trying to think who just had the the overfilling thing look at Fred Suites comment he said the control arms bad and if it's a samsung the drive gear so I mean he's really friends awesome about a lot of this stuff man he is he's probably way better at me than a lot of fixing stuff I'm gonna say man boiler mechanic does a lot of stuff pee tubes are nice one miles no seriously you have one at your house I loved oh dude oh
