What happens here

The builder explains the need for a multi-layered fascia on the A-frame section due to its 14.5-inch width, which is not available in standard fascia board sizes. He demonstrates stacking a 1x6 board and a 1x12 board, then overlapping the seam with a 1x8 board. This 'triple stack' method creates the necessary width and provides an overhang for the roofing, while also accounting for required gaps according to roofing specifications. He mentions that the seams will be caulked later for sealing.

Goal: Implement a triple-stack method (1x6, 1x12, 1x8 boards) to achieve the required 14.5-inch fascia width for the A-frame section and cover seams, ensuring a proper overhang for the roof.

man okay the last of the fascia is on but now we also have to do the fascia on the actual A-frame section this is 14 1/2 in and they don't have fascia that's 14 and2 inch so we have to do a double stack or technically it's called that thing a triple stack and the way we're going to accomplish this is we're going to lay down our 1x6 then 1x12 that's going to create I think 16 in so then to overlap that we put a 1x8 to cover that seam by like 2 in I think and then caul it all up and all that stuff that's the annoying part uh that's quite a bit of material you got to be thrown on and that's the stupid part when building an A-frame that's that's what you're dealing with
