(19,998 characters)welcome to the live happy Friday we've made it so far cheers to that we're out here at the new shop I don't know if you guys seen the video it's my absolute favorite what's going on let's see here I got to make sure we get nope that's that's how you flip the camera all right all right so I got a few boxes here uh there should be some organizational stuff there haven't opened it up yet we're going to do it here in a second Chris what's going on Joseph what's up man MH hello from Sweden what's going on Sweden Eric what's going on happy that you guys are all here uh sorry uh my connection went out for a quick second sorry uh my connection went out for a quick second is it still going I hope it's still going yeah ice snow uh and uh I didn't know if we're just going to abandon ship or not and uh we found a crane company that which I didn't know existed to be honest with you where they essentially come in with the drywall you buy the drywall from them and for like a fraction of a fee they come and have this crane like lift scoop up the drywall on their thing carefully and then bring it to whatever location you want they can go like 50 feet out and like 80 ft High which kind of makes sense that they do like apartment complexes and condos and all that crazy Jazz you know so uh we got that in the next video is going to be on the cabin in terms of the cabin the next video we got it painted primed walls painted walls which is cool because it actually now it's it's weird you know when you keep looking at it you be like a construction site and then all of a sudden you're like oh shoot like this is like a home now and that's what happened so we got the drywall installed walls painted um it's awesome it's absolutely awesome so the next video that we're going to do for the cabin is uh flooring and um we already started filming three days ago and boy oh boy man it's coming out so cool I mean I I left the beam the giant beam you guys remember uh exposed the drywallers wanted to enclose it I was like no way man from all the how expensive that sucker was how much chaos that sucker brought us we are not covering up we're going to keep it exposed and uh the natural wood tones of the flooring complement that beam and we are slick and we're excited uh why is the quality of your videos declin the quality is probably due to my mic if that's what you mean um I screwed up my mics that I use I didn't versus the previous mics we had them all adjusted the new ones I did not get them adjusted so they're all running hot so when I talk really loud and excited it just freaking hits the the levels high so sorry about that cabin I thought you would be doing the sighting after the roof I thought so too there's a lot of I thought so um but you know when the weather changes you kind of have to Pivot so we literally went to doing the roof and then we I don't know what we're going to do I forgot what we're going to do but uh oh yeah we were going to prep like a secondary entrance in the winter time from like the road below and we couldn't get to it so because of the uh stupid what you call it um retaining wall and uh that took a lot of time so the whole goal was to get dried in once we had the wrap on the house we were good so the siding which is Cedar is already at the property it's been there for a couple of months now got it all covered up so the weather is not affecting it in terms of snow and moisture and uh once spring hits I don't want to be climbing up ladders you know with snow on the ground and Ice uh especially as high as that is so we're going to tackle the siding in the in the springtime but right now we're focusing on because it's so cold and we finally got gas to the power uh gas and power to the property we're just trying to stay warm inside and uh it's been it's been nice you know how from Indiana what's going on is the new house not far from the old house my new house that I'm in right now yeah it's not far it's maybe 20 minute drive everything in Idaho is like very close so it's not like a trek or anything hey the cabin my favorite build thank you hopefully some of you guys ends up purchasing it CU I need to get my money out of it thank you please the sound is fine on my end oh well no the sound if you're referencing what I was talking about previously that was the YouTube videos the sound here probably fine maybe it might be a little bit of echoey being in the shop here hello from Philadelphia what's going on Philadelphia congratulations on going to the Super Bowl hope you guys uh all the best of luck going against the Chiefs dude this is so cool thanks Jordan what's up nice in the new house congratulations and success thank you the house uh it's bigger than my last place for sure uh the backyard is a huge backyard compared to last place I'm learning that I got some chores to do around here it's I got to learn how to take care of certain things that I'm not familiar with like I don't know how to take care of pool never did it so now I got to do it which is a stupid thing to complain about connection's problem again oh you remember my Fiasco when I was in the skid loader yeah simar uh I'm only hearing like every 10 words uh is that do I have like bad Wi-Fi does anybody here is experiencing a bad lag or anything like that because if so next time I'll put a router extension in here the sound CU is going off the sound is fine on my end ain't doing you ain't doing an Airbnb out of it I was that was the original plan cabin Airbnb was the original plan but then I kind of kind of got through this mental process of like finances where you're like well airbnbs make sense if you got a whole lot of cash and you can get a bunch of them but I kind of need to put my cash into this thing and then or my money into this thing and then be able to take it out to do it again um and you can't really do that with an Airbnb it sucks so um yeah I mean it's it is what it is it's it's funny I'm going down this like rabbit hole I went from like learning how to build and now I have to like learn how to be an adult with finances you know so yeah will you guys put the uh put a garage in the cabin no that wasn't part of the original architectural plans what we might end up doing is putting a carport at best um when you look at these kind of cabin scenarios you kind of have to wonder like you can throw as much money at it as you want if you have it I don't personally but um it doesn't NE it doesn't necessarily pan out to get all that out so like when when you buy a personal home you want it to have a garage and so if you buy a personal home that's your primary place and it doesn't have the garage chances are it's going to be far more inexpensive than a place with a garage with a cabin situation people most of the time go up to a cabin for the weekend and they could deal with not parking inside of the garage plus most of the cabin people that own cabins that I know use the garage for just storage which is you know kind of makes sense will you bring back your patreon I hope you get to 1 million subscribers I remember when you first started on YouTube oh thank you that's so kind of you uh I might bring back the patreon I want to make sure that when people spend their hard-earned money for like extra content from me and supporting me which I truly appreciate I want to make sure it's worthwhile to those people like I want to make sure it's like solid content and when I kind of can figure out a better system of creating content later down the road that I could do like one bonus episode for like patreon I think I would do it but right now I'm not there yet we're getting there uh in fact you'll see it in the next uh cabin video when we do the flooring I I just hired an extra help uh a guy named Ben who's fantastic I've worked he's worked with me on uh certain projects on and off over the last I don't know two three years maybe um kind of behind the scenes stuff prep workk stuff and he's awesome so he kind of just came on full-time and um hopefully that'll help me free up project time to create you know patreon content that's more uh exclusive and kind of behind the um the veil I guess uh can I fly you out to Tennessee to help me build a shop uh no thank you for offering though thank you thank you for I'd love to I'd love to fly out to Tennessee it's a lovely place but I don't want to go anywhere else and work because my plate is full uh left my job after 20 years and went full-time home renovation my own home thanks uh to your confidence by watching people like you you started a trade school in March to be oh oh starting a trade school in March to be an electrician that is incredible congratulations that's freaking awesome um electrician man dude I I know like only this much just the fa Basics and when I work with Noah from Red Dog electric who did the electrical in the cabin uh that guy is an artist man uh he I mean the lines were like like when he's running like Rox through the studs they were like perfectly spaced they're like color like it's like whites you know the what is it the uh uh what am I thinking 12 gauge wire right uh the 20 amps and then you have the the white wire the 15 amps are like they're all like it's it's it's so cool like it's it's up to you to like make a a craftsmanship out of it you know what I mean it's I love it in fact I have a a buddy who's a lineman here locally he's a a lineman uh Professor or teacher or whatever you want instructor and they like teach him like different like braiding methods and all that stuff to get all the lines and it's just it's like a signature feel and look to it I love it uh what's up from Charleston South Carolina really enjoy your videos the abandoned house build was amazing thank you thank you build was amazing and loving the A-frame keep up the solid work did you bring the coold plunge and sauna with you here's the thing really bummed out about it could not bring the sauna in fact the sauna was one of not the motivating factor but it was like the bells and whistles of selling the house as quickly as we did um the sauna was specifically requested that was to be kept at the house um the cold plch they never mentioned anything about it so I brought the cold plch here the sauna stayed there I contemplated about bringing it out of there but the thing is is the size that I made it even if we got it jacked up off the ground and got a forklift underneath it the width of my fence would not allow it and there's like this decline so it kind of be sketchy coming down anyway and so uh if I was to bring it with me to this new house a I would have either dropped it through the slope uh out of my backyard uh and then on top of it I would have have to rip off a bunch of fence in order to get out so that means for this new place I can build a new sauna that is a whole another level which is crazy because I thought that was a crazy level I got you know marine grade speakers under the bench I got you know accent lights inside of it I I had everything I wanted in it and now my gears are turning and I'm thinking about something even cooler watching from UK thank you UK do you have plans available for furniture build my wife wants me to build her some of the uh outdoor furniture I do not um I am pretty add when it comes to creating plans um not OCD but add like I get distracted I I don't plan that far ahead somebody actually recently asked me they're like how uh what software do you use for or you know schematics and plans and all stuff I was like I pen pen and paper kind of thing you know you just kind of sketch it up roughly and then you kind of figure out as you go so unfortunately I'm when it comes to prep work I'm not as detail oriented as actually you know doing the job do you have uh how many projects do you have planned in the new house the new house is a little bit tricky because it's pretty nice I mean it's it's high-end stuff it's just not our style and it's it's you know dated in a way you could say um so I don't know if a lot of people are going to want to watch me take like a perfectly nice bathroom and then turn it to Just My Style I don't know if that's intriguing enough to people so it's usually it usually works out better when you go here's this like you know 30y year outdated 40y year outdated bathroom and then let's Spruce it up not like here's a style that was in 10 years ago and let's make it modern so that's there's a little bit of um picking you got to do there will you and your family have the cabin as a vacation place for a bid or plan to straight up uh sell it when it's completed yeah sell it when it's completed um there's I I feel like if we come in and use it for a little bit it's it's going to lose that pristineness you know maybe one of the kids is going to like scuff up something and I don't know I it's such an annoying thing to drive every single day up to this place it takes about an hour 20 minutes which on paper is not bad but if you do it day in and day out month in and month out on a diesel truck that you're filling up three times a week it gets expensive it gets annoying and you're kind of like I just want to be done with this and move on to something more local that's why I was really excited when we got this place having a shop it took like a bunch of anxiety off of me cuz now I could have some of the projects that I start or I could do work over there and then come over here and then you know build cool things that I want in a comfortable space so it's kind of a little bit something creates my sanity I guess just possible to miter the Shelf uh front so it would go inside the floating shelf and be flush Oh you mean like a recessed shelf uh if that's the case if that's if I understood that correctly yeah you could definitely make it recessed inside of it my only the only reason I made the the Shelf drawer face again if I'm understanding correctly uh to be on top versus inside of it is cuz when you look at a shelf you see the front face profile but vers verus if it was recessed inside uh the thing it would you could kind of tell like oh that's a like a drawer so I I wanted to kind of do a little illusion if you will uh what's up ah like I said before it's I don't know maybe we'll do it for social maybe we'll do it for like Instagram and stuff like that uh there's a few projects that I have in the back of my mind I know I want to do something with the stairs I I really don't like the metal railings that coming up um um kind of want to create give it a more modern look it has carpet so the house some parts have carpet some house have really nice hardwood flooring like natural Hardware flooring um the big deciding factor if I really do tackle the stairs is if I could actually find the exact hardwood flooring keep in mind 10 years ago in fact here's how quickly and rapidly these these products shift um the last three houses I owned they're both all three had a situation where a project came up and I built something out of something else like maybe a closet turned into something else maybe a false wall turn it into a closet whatever and I needed like a box a box of flooring and every single house in the last three houses had the product that we used go out of stock or outdated or whatever so that's one of the hardest things to do with some of these projects when it comes to flooring Ma you know [Music] the audio keeps going in and out oh that's probably a connection issue I'm sorry I'll I'll get an internet router in here so we'll have better Milwaukee or DeWalt none I use Ri so n both are great where is your mobile Workshop trailer can you drive to the cabin mobile Workshop trailer it was at the cabin uh up until we got dumped with a ton of of stone I had to get the mobile Workshop trailer out of there because if the snow dumped as much as it did that I realize now there's no getting it out so and I was wondering maybe I needed to abandon the project cuz keep in mind if if we couldn't get the drywall in there which we were basically like at a standstill then the project would be done fortunately they were able to get in after like hours of trying to get their rig down there um so we took the trailer out of there now we can't get it in there because of how much snow is down there um but I also when I brought her back into town I ended up selling it and the reason I sold it is because the workshop trailer is um first of all it's way too big it's 20t long that is I thought I needed something giant like that I really don't that's way too much trailer to for you know a remodeling trailer most of the driveways it doesn't fit in it's just it's b a cam at that point so I sold it literally in a day and that following day I bought a ceiling or roof on it so 6'2 knucklehead head doesn't hit it top which clogged my Noggin many times um and uh so yeah the length and the height of the thing was just not correct so I bought one that 12-footer which I think is perfect it's seven feet wide which we have the width space it's uh like I said seven feet tall which it's like boom it's beautiful and uh now when I find some time I'm going to build completely a different version of storage inside of it because I've learned from my first version of what's important what's not important and I learned a lot of lessons that I think on this next trailer it's going to be absolutely dialed in to be both like functional uh efficient and like aesthetically like perfect you are super inspirational and my favorite YouTuber thanks for all you do thank you thank you thank you thank you very kind do you regret doing the A-frame project o that's a really loaded question that's a great question uh no I don't reg okay let me back up a little bit I it's very hard in terms of you know anything anytime you do something for the first time it's hard meaning I've never been a builder and you know a a GC on a project a general contractor um so that was a whole different kind of ball game I have to learn a completely new job set of skills um and then it's very much outside of town so the convenience of driving every single I'm putting in like I'm filling up like $600 a month on my truck like three times a a week I'm filling up that's close to what is that uh 500 Miles uh that I'm that I'm wasting uh a week and um I would have loved to do can't wait to see the new trailer thank you I'm excited I hope you guys like it um because I think I'm GNA I think I'm going to focus on not necessarily like a work trailer exclusively build I think what's going to be cool about it we can focus on like small space small workspace storage options and I have some pretty kooky ideas kind of dialed in in the back of my head right now so hopefully we can bring them into fruition let's see here no lag are you going to make a fire pit for the cabin s'mores uh maybe I haven't thought about it I'm like at this point where I'm I'm doing the most like important stuff right now we're doing we got the interior painted uh the drial obviously is done uh we're doing flooring right now and then uh I'm actually doing two bathrooms at once and uh so my my cup is full on things I need to get done what else what else do you miss DeWalt at all huge DeWalt guy here uh do I miss DeWalt um you know when I had pre before RI I I used Milwaukee DeWalt Makita basically anything and everything and uh I really did like the DeWalt miter saw I believe it's called the flex miter saw it had like two batteries that go into it which it gave you the power and it gave you longevity and I thought that was like a slick uh um design um but somehow still over all of the DeWalt stuff I kind of favored Milwaukee a little bit more just because I like the the torque on on some of the the equipment but one of the issues that I kept seeing when we were creating content is people would always you know the mean commenters when people would be like oh I bet I could build this if I had you know $220,000 in tools and I…
