there we go hi what's going on welcome to the Friday live I am on a skider and I got to flatten out my driveway at the top I hope this noise is not annoying but uh the top of the driveway is uh slanted really hard to the side which makes it uh annoying to get into um but um my biggest concern mostly is once winter hits and this place becomes an ice rink it's uh it's going to be a pain in the butt trying to get in here so I never thought I'd be in a position where I would have to be like a mountain man and going winter is coming and start playing accordingly to it so that's what I'm doing what is everybody else up to on this Friday noon well East Coast is probably 2:00 right now you guys are probably at work or got the day off um man I hope I don't keep running over I have an extension cord running down the middle of the driveway for my temporary power and I'm trying to be gentle with these tracks on the [Music] skid but I'm pretty sure I'm not going to pay attention and rip it to shreds but that's okay we need that power right now and I'm going to try to be careful 700 p.m. in UK yeah you guys overseas are on a different time schedule I hope this noise is not annoying here to you guys mik should pick me up pretty well but you know the skider is going to make the noise that the skider wants to make yeah hey what's going on a lot of people South Africa we got the UK in here last week we got somebody from [Music] Kenya I should float the section first I've never used this skid before I'm always use like mini skids and um they have a float feature but I haven't uh read the handbook on this one yet let's be honest I don't read the handbooks anyway you guys read user manuals before using something or you're like I'm just going to figure it [Music] out check Republic's in the house love the flannel do I look look like cholo I got it all button up to the very top it's getting cold out here this morning was 28° F it warms up a little bit towards the day I think the high today is going to be 45 so you start out real cold Frost everywhere and then when the sun comes up it Heats you up the nice thing about The Skit Steer is that it's got a heater inside of it and I believe heated seats I'm not sure it's a it's a nice one this is kind of like where you run to go warm up sorry about the bumpiness it's these things don't have any suspension to it it took me like literally 40 minutes to figure out how to take the the previous Fork Clift prongs that are on it for like pallets and connect the bucket to it I uh I had to result to Googling it like youtubing it and surprisingly enough there is a YouTube video showing you exactly how to do it so YouTube for the win I got a nice little backup camera here which makes it really handy to not worry about running into something stupid like uh the power pole behind [Music] me float feature should be done on the joystick depending on what brand it is this is a cat 259 D3 let's see on the joystick okay let's see put it down here [Music] joystick that that's the horn there's a snail here which I I'm sure it's like a crawl mode maybe that's it it's like a toggle switch is that what I should be using YouTube University for the win heck yeah so if if the float feature on this should be on the oh wait I think that's it oh slick hey hey thanks who wrote that that's so much helpful oh yeah that's nice it was literally the driveway it's like it's nice and long and it's flat towards you know the after the first quarter but that first like 20% it's at a slant so you're already driving down the beginning of a hill uh and then you turn into the driveway and it's the little top part is slanted and uh that's what I'm doing I'm moving that dirt around uh so we can have a nice Flat Pad there cuz uh if like I said it's an ice skating R man it's getting hot in here um turn on the fan ooh that's nice I could do this if like YouTube doesn't work out for me in whatever many time of years I think I'd like be an excavator or like work for an [Music] excavator [Music] sorry yeah I was supposed to Michael Chandler uh I like Michael Chandler the UFC fighter do I look like Michael Chandler I don't think I look like Michael Chandler I wasn't even planning to do this live from the skiter but my excavator um my excavation guy Tanner he left his equipment well just a skid in his dump truck at the cabin cuz we're uh working on a project together and uh and I saw it when I pulled up and I was like o hey man can I use it like I messaged him and he's like yeah dude I also have the dump trailer there if you need to go get a rock and I was like yeah I used to be so intimidated by uh heavy equipment like this you know the classic like anything first time you do is scary but once you do it the first time you get over that little hump of fear it's so nice cuz I'd be throwing a shovel around right now it would be absolute misery but with this easy work I started with um my friends over at Tate's rents they [Music] uh they uh let me borrow their mini skid when I was doing the abandoned house for the like the driveway and the landscape and you get the hang of that thing pretty quick and but it's a little bit of like finagling where like in order to control each side of the skid you have to use like one lever and the other level so you have to kind of do this like hold them back together hold them forward and then if you want to turn you kind of you know do a little piano work piano hands um but with this it's got a joystick here so one joystick strictly controls forward back side to side put it to side it'll spin you in circles like this other side forward back just classic gaming controller and then the other joystick on the right here that controls your bucket so it's so much more intuitive um about 3 weeks ago I had to rent a an excavator and those suckers are freaking hard to learn they have two modes on them uh deer mode and I guess traditional mode I don't know what the Opposites are and uh it's so counterintuitive it's so hard to use like the whole time I had to like talk to myself be like okay remember so I would I would dig pick up the bucket and then I would try to swing the bucket over but really by turning it sideways it'll open the bucket and so that I would just dump all the soil everywhere I like that hat you have straws is awesome workware and of course like you thanks I got an opportunity to work with them um on a video and they sent me this hat a T-shirt and two work pants and I got to say I really like their work pants because most work pants like car heart area they need to be broken in like if you think of your stereotypical construction worker guy probably a little beefy Hefty on the on the heavier side um I mean of course there's exceptions to the rule there's plenty of fit people but you have to like wash them and dry them plenty of times for them to be soft and uh I don't know fit it like I like fitted stuff I don't like them to be too baggy but also stretchy and straws sorry keep slamming my bucket they came out with these like already out of the box broken in and fitted stuff so I was a fan I wish I had like beeping on the back up to see if I'm going to hit something destroy a house it's fun yeah destroy a house it's fun fortunately I'm on my property so I'm away from other houses behind me is um a tree with my address on it so I don't want to do that and in front of me is um a telephone pole or not a telephone a power pole so you know highrisk High reward I would probably hit the tree oh and my water meter's in front of me too or the water shut off valve don't want to do anything crazy save your wife's post about oh save my oh yeah yeah moving uh yeah have in the in the on the plate yeah we're moving technically we're we're we're slowly moving um movers actually coming tomorrow we already brought a lot of our stuff over um we were just kind of done with all the projects in the house and uh we got an opportunity to pick up this really cool house it's not a fixer upper that's the unfortunate part um but it's one of those forever homes that any anything we could ever dream about wanting in a house it has so it was hard to pass up the opportunity plus there's a lot of sentimental value to that house which we'll probably cover in a video um it only make sense to do it after this cabin is done there's no point of putting out weird videos that are not have anything to do with the series I'm going to I have a section of my extension cord buried up here damn it yeah uh the house you flipped in the last series did you sell the house uh what's the for yes I did sell it we that the original plan was to sell it it was we would consider the flip house um it was the absolute cheapest house we could find uh due to budget reasons and for that because it's the cheapest house we could find it was an absolute shambles as you saw in the videos we remodeled it uh in just about a year and when we put it on the market last summer we sold it in 3 days so that was cool yeah it was awesome I keep getting myself in these situations where I keep biting off more than I could chew but then looking back at it when it's done you're like holy crap did I just do that trying to drag this pile back can't see the front of my bucket that's the only problem what up Netherlands Netherlands is in the [Music] house yeah we uh we actually got snow here the other day um not a whole time it was just flurries but any day now here's my fear I am so terrified that my delivery for a drywall won't be able to get here because of the roads in fact certain places they won't even schedule you because they're like nope roads are bad over there uh you figure out how to get it up there and I want to make sure I get the drywall in uh the guys are actually here doing HVAC work so I'm excited for that to be able to work inside the house in warmth and not in 10° weather or sometimes even single digits um but the other hurdle for that warmth I mean they got the furnace that they're installing right now all this stuff but they put me on a schedule that didn't even tell me what the schedule is they they still have to schedule it to get the propane tank up here you know the big 500 gallon propane tank and he told me the same thing he said if the roads if the weather starts turning we won't be able to get to you and to me of course it's going to turn turn cuz everything has gone wrong or bad on this project and it's all things outside of my control like well I'm not going to spoil too many secrets for the next videos but you know any anything that could go wrong with deliveries sizes and everything could go wrong did go wrong the only things I did not go wrong yet and I shouldn't be even saying it is Plumbing those guys were gangsters they came in they needed nothing from me they're like we know what we're doing go do your own stuff I was like say less uh and HVAC so far again they were putting in Duck line or yeah ducks in yesterday and um all the piping and all that stuff and they said they're going to be done today infection is uh next Wednesday for hfac and then my electrician who was supposed to start today had one of his main guys uh put in his notice and there's urgency at another project like an apartment complex and he's awesome he's like hey man I hate to do this to you but it would it be okay if we pushed you another 3 weeks and that's what I kind of learned is like you stop reacting just go with the punches and control where you can't control and so I was like kind of laughed at it I was like of course of course there's a problem problem there and I was like yeah that's fine and he was very happy about it I'm sure we'll figure everything out everything always somehow does end up figuring itself out so that's one of my biggest lessons is you can't control everything and things will go wrong all the time so the only thing you can control is how you react and uh that's a lesson that I've been learning through the series and I'm kind of proud of myself to be honest with you [Music] what state am I in I am in Idaho Boise Idaho I grew up in Seattle Washington met my wife uh in Seattle when she was visiting her friends and I met her through some friends and um we got married very quickly like within the year that we met each other and I graduated college and we moved to Idaho and we've been here for 12 years and I love it [Music] here see me rolling yep are you selling this one um yes the plan is to sell it um a lot of people are like why are you selling it would be cool to have this cabin it would be cool our original plan 3 years ago for this property when we bought it was to Airbnb it out and make you know income from it but after the whole abandoned House series we realized that we need to I hope I don't hit the ex the dump truck behind me you can see in the video um we realized we need to be able to get the cash out of it to do the next house cuz I need houses to do what I do for a living unless you guys want me to build coffee tables on this channel I'll be a lot of coffee tables to build man this is looking good already I'm a little OCD so I'm going to keep like picking at it over once those HV guys are out I think I'm going to work on the back side or the front side of the house um I still don't know what to call it a cabin or house it's got all the modern features of a house but it's it's in the woods and it's I don't know and typical cabins have the classic you know wood beams and stuff although it does have a ginormous beam inside of it uh content's always awesome hug thanks Ste steel Spartan appreciate that jaan's in the house that float big fan of my work thank you what up New York building a shop cabinets right now I hate building cabinets I like building one cabinet cuz you can focus on every piece you know be meticulous about it make sure you have a perfect finish but I hate when I have to build the cabinets and Bol like an entire kitchen's worth it sucks the fun out of it and maybe if I was better at like preparation which I'm that's my goal is to like plan ahead but it always comes down to like you go okay cut all my rough pieces boom boom boom put the carcass together let's work on the face frames got them all done and then you get to the cabinet doors and that's where the hate really comes from with the cabin of doors you end up screwing up with one and then you got to change your router bits on your you know router table for the Styles and rails it's that's the part that I hate and then you got to paint them all it's and then you of course you don't have enough space when you paint them all thanks Leslie keep up the great work I appreciate that what's the next project after the cabin uh ooh that's a good question so I think after the cabin we will do some upgrades to the house that we bought um the most that I'll tell you about this house like I already mentioned is we bought the house and it's um a dream house but with features and finishes that are not our style the style of the house is rustic modern and he get this rustic modern and castley yes like you heard me right it's got a castle uh accents and features and Aesthetics and and stuff like that um so if I showed you a picture you're like holy smokes did you buy Castle yeah I guess not far from it um so we'd probably do a series of things upgrades on it um I want to make sure it's stuff that you guys might enjoy watching um so it'd be something cool I definitely want to build an outdoor kitchen something cool where like a nice built-in sink and um not only the built-in grill but also um like um what do you call those those uh black not black rock is it Black Rock the the big cast iron thing on it uh a few of my friends have those girls and they'll pretty they're pretty cool so I want to do a really kickass uh outdoor kitchen like that and just a lot of couple updates so I'm sure that series is not going to take too long um and then once we sell this place we'll buy another piece of crap house like we did in the last series and see what we do you know what I've always wanted I've always wanted to try buying a beat up old Double Wide Trailer like like in trailer parks and see if we can make it look like awesome let me know if that's something that you guys think would be cool I know that being able to buy a home becomes harder and harder with every year where with interest rates and recessions and all that stuff um it'd be cool to give another uh perspective of how to have a home that looks incredible um while being um more price conscious not everybody's got you know being able to put 20% down on a on a home um man this is looking nice I wish I had an outside camera so you guys can keep an eye on me South Africa what's up miss your woodworking streams I learned a lot uh woodworking streams uh you know I did a little bit but thank you um it was more along the lines of like I would say carpentry if anything um I really enjoy remodeling houses that it makes me cuz I don't know like you build something like a desk or a table from nice wood and it's cool it's useful but when you transform a space and that space creates a Vibe I like that a [Music] lot don't do a trailer not worth the inves ments um I don't know maybe you're speaking from experience I had a buddy that told me he bought a Double Y trailer um at an auction and like made like 100 Grand on it uh after he sold it now I don't know if that's um included with the you know the work that he put into it and all that stuff but um I don't know I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get there I'm like on the public road right now to this place I got to make sure this is we're not going to piss anybody off destroying this road by the way if I was operating an excavator right now instead of a SK I would not be able to hold or make a single sentence I would just be focusing on remembering which triggered does what and which joystick controls what ugly wish there was uh some way to chat I answer many questions about first time home buying I'd rather buy a SE semi feature fixer up or than spend the move in money ready home later on spend the money uh in terms of wishing there's a way to answer questions in chat um one thing I mentioned I had an idea I mean I haven't given it too much thought yet but maybe starting a YouTube membership uh what do they call them groups I guess I don't know YouTube has a lot of cool little features that I don't use um but membership is one of them and one of those memberships I was wondering if people would be interested if I was to open up a membership for almost like a consultation thing of like how to get into flipping houses how to find ways to save money uh on the the remodels where to if if you're going to build yourself and be your own general contractor uh which things are worth for you to do and save money and which things uh you'd rather or should hire somebody else um I don't know I'd love to hear your guys' opinions in the comment section cuz if enough people are interested in that I I'll probably open up something like that find some time oh this is slick man I'm happy with this you'd be interested to sign up awesome Adam what are the few tips when buying land and building a house or cabin on it well one of the things is you need to consider if we're going to talk about strictly cabins a lesson that I learned is um views are great and you should chase the views of where your cabin is going to be facing whether it's on a lake whether it's on the mountains or whatever but then you need to consider uh if you're going to be sitting at the top of that road or the bottom of that road that goes to your cabin in our situation we are sitting um at the top of the hill but at the bottom of the road which means you have to excavate uh essentially a giant wall in our situation we have to excavate A N A 12T wall which also means for your budget you're going to have to consider spending money um close to between 30 and 50…
