first what's up what up what up hi I'm uh at the cabin right now somebody gave me a great idea to go uh live and see what that's like um I got a bunch of trash yard I need to pick uploading my dump trailer it's Saturday this is like my sixth trash run and every time you look look at it I'm like gu it's not a lot I got already the trailer about half full well I'll probably put these on so you guys can hear can you guys hear me he hello yeah there he is I'm still so any like I said I'm picking up all this load to the dump there's a lot of it um yeah okay cool and uh figured I'd do a live maybe answer some questions as I'm working don't want to be here alone like a loser let's see here what do we got it's fun following you from Israel what's up Israel I guess it's the first time you're doing a live this is I'm gonna try doing more of them do you guys like these kind of things somebody told me like you should do a live when you're working uh and it's kind of hard to work and do a live congrats from the cabin Bill thanks thanks beautiful dead there it is beautiful the sun rises over there and sets over so the orientation of the windows in the cabin are like killer hold on let me adjust this a little bit yeah that should do it all right I'm going to just keep loading this stuff up you guys got any good questions I'll answer them every couple of minutes that's a little sneak peek for you we started hanging the fascia cu the the roofers are coming soon so uh we got rained out like twice already it's miserable man it's like you know you work so hard and you spend the crazy money and you're paying the for the materials you're paying for the labor for framing and you're paying for their hotel stay and it's all done it's all perfect and then you get hit with two crazy rainstorms and everything inside the house is wet and I know it's fine cuz that's what houses are built for like that they can withstand a little bit but something in your heart kind of still grabs you you know you're like this sucks on yum yum to be honest would rather watch her I don't know who her is uh how was your ass when the top be almost fell off uh you know what's funny about that beam video so I experienced the you know being live at the whole event and then when the editor was done with the video and I watched it my stomach was still turning and I definitely puckered up when I was yelling no no no because it's like you're reliving it it's like a PTSD moment so much so that even when I was editing even a week after to do like a social media Instagram clip of that I I was scared like I literally my stomach goes a KN still it's it's ridiculous hello for Idaho Falls we love the mall area really excited to see how they build tanks it's funny how people also know like where in proximity this is uh hi from uh great cold UK jealous of your weather it's beautiful views it is beautiful it was uh right now it's not bad I think it's like maybe 50 degrees Fahrenheit in the morning it was like 28 that was cold you are an inspiration oh thanks man you're my inspiration sweat courage allowed me to rebuild my whole house and Bricks when I started something I'm scared of sweat courage and sweat yeah everything's been scary I mean and also you got to consider this like anything first time is really scary you know and next time you do it is not as scary like for me it was scary remodeling houses cuz it was my first time you know and then after that you buy your first investment property that was the abandoned house and that was scary because you know the whole place was falling apart it's not stuff that I've ever done and then after that you know and so that became no longer scary and then now with being your own builder and building something as a general contractor yourself and that's terrifying right because it's high stakes it's everything costs money you make the wrong decision that's on you uh um nobody's going to sit you down and teach you fortunately I have a my father-in-law has built houses in the past and it's nice to kind of ask him questions like little things like like when we poured the foundation I didn't know if I needed to go and lay down that moisture barrier on the dirt and he's like no just ask your framers your framers will do it and I was like oh I didn't know that you know um so just little things like that everything's scary the first time you do it but after a while it's not as scary anymore you know [Applause] the guys were drinking on the job here got beer cans all over this is a sneak peek the windows came in so we were installing them you guys will see that on the next week's video that was a fun video because even as simple as the window those still things don't necessarily turn out the way you plan them to be it's like sometimes I feel like there's like a hex that's put on me cuz like you can't make this stuff up like how does everything go wrong every step of the way right I guess we're finding Solutions as we go keep up the great work you're inspiring me to do more projects thanks Becky Joey are you going to live there no we're not going to live there um this was kind of like an investment opportunity we bought this place three years ago the land and we didn't have the money to build so when we finished the abandoned house series we decided to roll that money and try to build this hopefully make a make some money off of it It's tricky because it costs a lot of money to build you know and so for you to sell it for a little bit more it's tough especially with like premium features and stuff love the house renovation video thank you Jan B uh hi from Denmark what's up Denmark car we truly enjoy your videos keep it up thanks working hard or hardly working keep up the good work following from UK I'm almost Blown Away how many people follow me on this channel that are like across all over the world you know you don't like consider that because you'll see these analytics like where the majority of people are from the United States but it's wild to me that you guys like to watch this kind of stuff from uh across the pond if you will what is everybody doing on a Saturday Saturday right now in like in Europe like in the states I feel like Saturday mornings are for errands you know yard cleanups All That Jazz sometimes kids sports what do you guys do same stuff probably right uh what was your professional background before YouTube Cody uh I used to be a respiratory therapist so for about seven years I worked as a respiratory therapist so dealt with people with uh lung uh diseases so COPD empyema asthma um I worked uh in the ICU putting people on ventilators I worked in the N niku newal ICU went on the critical deliveries where you know babies can't breathe when they come out of their mom's uh a little bit in the emergency room so kind of all over the place going to the cafe on Saturday nice cafe sounds nice greetings from Lithuania what's up Lithuania Canada our neighbors up north favorite project big or small Chris favorite project big or small sauna man I uh the sauna has been my favorite just because I use it so much but also the cold plung I've been really into that I hope this phone doesn't fall off I got a like taped to the thing Netherlands what's up do you know where Bulgaria is yes I do I've been to Bulgaria uh nope actually I lied I'm an idiot I've been I've been to Belgium I'm an idiot I'm sorry watching from uh Alabama husband and I are thinking husband and I are thinking about building a house we live East Central Alabama yeah I would say be strategic build in the spring or start in the spring because right now like we're chasing the snow here uh like I said it was 28 degrees in the morning and uh you know up where this place is depending on the winter that we have we could get snow in two weeks we can get snow in a month you know you just don't know good day from Minnesota what's up Minnesota greetings from oh we already did that uh it's coming up to 6PM in the UK got my dinner in my oven and watching you that's cool well I'm glad you're watching this is fun I don't know I should do more lives this is really cool Singapore is in the house are you going to make your or redo the outdoor sonador swing I did I did redo it uh I can't believe the amount of hate I got for that it's why like where you'll build something and you'll make like you know a design issue mistake and you're like cuz you're always like I'm going to fix it later there's no sense of making an updated YouTube video but I did I did fix the door there's a lot more room you guys are definitely right about it my logic behind it was like most exterior doors you want to walk in but then you have to consider that it's cramp space you know and besides it's also I realized it's a safety issue so if you're in the sauna and it's really hot and maybe you're getting dizzy you want to open the door and swing out you don't want to be dealing with this kind of motion so it's you know you live and you learn you know I'm good at making mistakes you guys know this New Zealand 6:00 a.m. Sunday love the sauna build live from Iowa I'm a simple man Mr Bild to post a video I tune in I love that thank you Finland Finland SAA evening I love it I love uh I would love to hear from people from Finland about saas because I think saas were like I think finland's notorious for their saunas and one thing I keep trying to figure out when I built that sauna I put vents the first son I've ever built I don't know like seven years ago the one in the shed I never put vents inside of it so a lot of people gave me crap about like you're supposed to have vents so the second one I built I was like okay let me put the vents and everything that I saw was like you put one down below by the heater and you put one above and the idea there is you're almost like kind of creating like a convection oven so usually if you don't have the the vent there heat always Rises cold air stays below but if you have cold air coming and heat escaping through a vent it almost does this convection right kind of like I saw an illustration if you have a pot of let's say boiling eggs or boiling water and you put a lid on it as opposed to if you open the lid a little bit it kind of creates this I think that's what that is I don't know if that makes sense so I'd love to hear your input love to see the garage organization build or storage building organization build you guys like organization stuff or garage organization would be fun um yeah I'll have to put that on my to-do list after um this cabin build um let me know in the comments because I'll go through these comments and you guys have video ideas because here to think about video ideas like something that I think is cool you guys might not think is cool at all like some people are probably not interested in seeing you know what's like building a house when you're not actually doing it the process um and then other people might be so let me know in the comments because I'll kind of go through them and see uh what ideas you guys might have that uh might be popular amongst everybody else I live in uh Tuscaloosa Alabama does the A-frame have a garage or are you building an external one it does not have a garage um we created a parking spot uh when you come down the driveway and there's going to be this huge retaining wall but it's like almost like a one and a half car parking spot my work trailer is there right now and so what we might do is put like a carport there so keep the snow off it that's the tricky thing about building here is it when it does snow and the roads are frozen it's on a hill so you know that's a a little bit of a like a decision making thing that I kind of didn't anticipate is well how are you going to get down to your cabinet so thinking that ahead I had to come up with like a plan B for parking and stuff greetings from Germany love the A-frame cabin series thanks I can't believe how much hate some of the last videos I've been getting it's ridiculous because first of all I don't pay attention to negative comments but I I was just kind of curious because this is completely something different than I've ever done before like this style of videos and it went from uh where did it go from Oh I thought I was going to watch you build and you're not actually building okay that was the first I think video or two and then the rest of the videos were like you know clickbait and then that kind of died off and then they were like I would have never done it this way you're stupid and blah blah blah and I'm thinking hold on a second there's actual real stuff that's happening here these are real mistakes these are real problems that are coming with the Beam not being able to get here the crane guy you know refusing to do it the the the contractor getting kicked out of two hotels or two motels um the screw-ups on the the lumber all this stuff these are like you know you're I'm not trying to find a story and anything it's just the stories just show up and I'm like well this would be kind of cool to show people what the actual process looks like because to be honest it's like a complete show son it is a must have greetings from Nashville love your content thanks Adam uh used to live in West Virginia we live on top of the mountain had a summer driveway in the winter snow driveways got snow in October didn't see grass till April yeah that's kind of like here did you or your wife pick the A-frame style uh my wife I would say I have always loved the A-frame style I think they're so cool so when we went to the architect um they were so good about coming up with like the design for this build so quickly that we didn't even have to do any kind of revisions like they came up were like sold that looks freaking cool I think in in in like retrospect if I was to redo it again I think maybe the design would have been if I was to keep this land and keep in mind it's on a hill um I would have probably put the back part on the foundation um or its butt on the on the on the on the slope whatever and then the front have posts coming down and then maybe put a carport so you could park underneath that that deck kind of thing I've seen a lot of people utilize that for storage and I thought that was really efficient to use of space you have uh let's see here if you have money to spare lots of it you can add a heated driveway that would be the most bougiest thing of here uh it's a nice cabin but it's I don't think anybody has a place that baller of a driveway in the this kind of section so Stoke you're going Live on YouTube now this is sick awesome thanks Rob never forget it's your build your decision if someone doesn't agree with the build it's your own frame yeah no thanks it's uh that's kind of like my mentality behind it it's like I don't know how many opportunities I'm going to have to build uh especially build something so cool and unique like I get it would boring series if I was just building like a regular old house you know it's like whatever but and A-frame is just such a unique design and I and I'm I'm really passionate about it I mean I think this is maybe some people might not like the series because they maybe followed me from seeing how to do bathroom Renovations or building other stuff but I'm just so fascinated by the process of a building from you know all the processes from the beginning to end but also the design of the A-frame is just so cool it's such a pain in the butt but it's so cool and I I try to focus on creating content that I like and hopefully along the way people might like it as well and you know that's I mean I could go make stupid videos like you know crazy challenges and stuff like that but I don't know that just doesn't excite me really you ever think of doing a Mr build a fitness channel uh and never have I thought about it I do have a lot of people will like DM me and they'll ask me what my like workout routines are and they're very basic but um they're effective I mean my work workouts are no longer than 30 minutes I just try to do them every day you know uh Grand fireplace should I do a grand fireplace um yeah Grand fireplace would be cool I actually never built a fireplace now that I'm thinking about it there's a lot of masonry work I do I will have to when I do do do build it I will have to brush up because there's a there's a science behind the flute of the chimney right cuz from the AR like the renderings that I saw it's like you have your fire place and fireproof brick but you also have to consider there's like the slope in the back and the way it funnels the smoke up and out versus kicking it back into your house hello from OKC okay I love watching your channel going growing from DIY Home Project to your home awesome thank you uh not that you have to worry about it with the pitch but uh what's the snow load uh area in the frame I don't know I have to I have my plans in there with architect or the engineers gave the the snow load but it's it's it's it's beefy and the reason I say that is number one the the the pitch of the roof is 2112 right so if you don't know roof pitches the way they like measure them is you know they'll put 21 inches off the the the run off and then the rise coming down so it's TW 20 it's 12 inches this way and then 21 inches this way and that's stinking Steep and uh that's number one number two it's a metal roof so Snow's not even going to be up there in fact the plumbers when they were putting the vent pipes up they were like uh you might have to consider building a little um almost like a wedge around it like a framed wedge because uh we've seen especially with this slope it will just break off those vent pipes so I'm not anticipating any snow even being able to stay up there uh maybe for these bump out sections where the dining room and the um kitchen is uh that'll collect a little bit but it it's G to run off quick so why an A-frame serious like go got guys to know every A-frame I've ever uh instantly pissed me off uh unusable on layout it's completely unusable I completely agree in fact you know the general rule of thumb right now in this economy the cost of building is between 350 and $400 per square foot and this A-frame is just a little bit under 2,000 square feet so it's like 1950 or something like that and off the walls you lose about three and a half feet three and a half to four feet so yes it's very inefficient use of space The Architects made it a little bit efficient for the kitchen dining the main hangout spots they're 9 foot tall ceilings and those bump out spots there you got plenty of wiggle room you really start losing that space on the second flooor um why did we choose it it's Irena she well she's the inspiration she's you know most of these like Pinterest girls they love A-frames I think it's just like a an aesthetic thing um and uh that kind of inspired me because I think they look really cool but yeah very inefficient so but the way I kind of look at it if this is your primary home yeah don't build an aing but if this is your like you know Cabin in the Woods go with the family take some friends go ski whatever I think it's awesome it's it's kind of it's kind of like having like a barrel sauna right it's a very inefficient sauna because there's no insulation it's just wood but it's a cool idea of getting inside this like Barrel to go and you know heat up recessed hot tub in the deck um I was thinking about that actually but the only problem and the reason I decided not to is because I wanted to also have a deck right to like stargaze watch the view all this stuff and um so if we were going to do a sauna or not a sauna hot tub it'd probably be like on the other side of the building or maybe to the side here I don't know um yeah also there's going to be a deck video and as you can expect things went wrong and uh I had to build it and fix it so the Barbie dreamhouse the Barbie Dream Home is an A-frame will you put…
