Fence Removal and Rough Excavation
At 2:48 in
Turning a Hill into a Flat(er) backyard pt/2
What happens here
The first step in transforming the backyard is removing the existing chain-link fence. Sam uses a Milwaukee impact driver with various DeWalt bits to quickly unfasten the fence fabric from the posts. For fence posts that are concreted into the ground and connected to the house structure, extreme caution is exercised. Shovels and a pickaxe are used to carefully dig around these posts to free them without damaging the house's foundation or brick molding. Once the fence is removed, the skid steer begins the rough cut of the hill, pushing and moving the excavated soil to start flattening the sloped area, preparing it for the retaining wall.
Goal: Clear the fence and perform initial large-scale dirt removal for the retaining wall.
