What happens here
This project offers a comprehensive comparison of different snow removal equipment and techniques used in commercial operations. It features a head-to-head analysis of a Ram pickup truck with multiple plows against an ASV skid steer with an Arctic sectional snow pusher, covering various scenarios like straight pushing, obstacle clearing, and deep snow removal, both day and night. The video also touches on specialized equipment like ATVs for sidewalk clearing and discusses operational strategies, efficiency, and potential equipment wear.

(14,532 characters)[Music] all right you guys i thought this one was interesting today we're going to be putting a ram pickup truck with a 16-foot boss drag pro 180z and a 9 foot 2 v plow up against [Music] okay sam are you ready tim are you ready one two three go sam's in the asv that's a 74 horsepower tracked skid loader running all season tracks on it and using a i think it's a 15 foot or a 15 2 arctic sectional pusher [Music] now the race consists of three battles in three different lots the lots are divided equally between the two trucks the two vehicles [Music] we're cutting this down in the middle tim's got this side done now he's got to clean around one two three four islands and then put do the straight push there sam i don't know if that was rookie air or not cleaned up around his first either which means he's gonna be recleaning that as he pushes the snow down [Music] that's all right we all still like sam [Applause] and it and it makes it fun to give him crap right what is he doing sam oh there he goes so that doesn't make sense to me but maybe there's a method to his madness here we go which way is he going to push that look at that snow roll you guys see that snow rolling okay now i get sam's strategy you guys he cleared those islands out he's gonna take this snow push it on that side of the island and then he just got straight runs look at that yep yep he's gonna push it right into the so tim's getting his islands cleaned out pretty good and then he might just loop around so he's just gonna kind of do a daisy chain on that one so that's tim's strategy i get it and i get sam's strategy too they both work right um i don't know how much i really like sam's strategy in fact i i didn't like sam's strategy at all um and so i didn't really feel that this race was completely accurate how about that [Music] and then that just gave me an excuse to jump in the asv okay watch this what tim does daisy chains okay coming up trust me [Music] tim don't turn me into a liar all right i promise just watch for that that segment [Music] do [Music] and some people have said oh you know there goes your reverse gear in those uh back plows but like i said uh in a video earlier the reverse gear actually has the largest mechanical advantage of any gear in your transmission is therefore the strongest gear and we've been running back plows uh for years now three of them three years four plows daisy boom i love that move no problems with our transmissions one of the good things about these sectionals right here too for a pusher it's very forgiving on the operator as well because the side motherboards float with the road he doesn't have to consciously control that and put that down look at this load is this slowing him down sam's in the cab smiling like a monkey eating crap on a frosted morning i have no clue what that means but my dad used to say it all the time so and i pray every single one of you skid loader operators applause know is screaming right now about this pattern that he used i don't think it's paying off for him but that's okay that's okay cause we can always do two out of three see how fast tim can move with that truck boom he can get speed speed is his friend in that truck when he's in the air but he's even plowing pretty fast going bass backwards with those arctic sectional pushers the side motherboard will do the floating for you with a standard pusher box it's in a fixed position so that means the operator has to always lay the box flat down onto the ground if the operator goes like this he's going to rub this cutting edge off so that if some other operator comes in they won't have that much cutting edge and the snow will drift out but if the operator does the reverse and goes this way he's going to wear this cutting edge down and so what that means is if they ever wanted to use it the box the right way there's going to be a big hole and all the snow is going to escape that way so these are very forgiving i've seen i've seen uh pusher boxes get destroyed really fast through rookie error expensive pusher boxes now tim is two fisting this controller so he's got a controller in one hand and a controller the back plow and another hand while he's driving and it sounds kind of like it would be difficult but he's got a heineker controller and that's a two button controller for that v plow with a tiny joystick if this isn't it but it looks a lot like it he's literally got one two buttons for that front plow and right there's the joystick you can read this controller like the back of your hand and the boss plow on the back has the the best controller for any back plow that i've ever put my hands on as well so he's kind of spoiled when it comes to [Music] that the next match coming up is a total war [Music] oh sam's not gonna slow down for he's like get out of my territory [Applause] all right i think we're i think we're gonna call it guys i think tim's got it done i think tim's just messing around now we gotta call it what tim's just over there lollygagging now yeah i know he is i'm just trying to keep up all right sam i gotta give this one to tim i'll let him win all right so why do you think tim won this one you guys got any ideas what happened i think it was a pattern i kind of screwed myself a little bit because i thought it was drier than it was so i was just going to push everything over there and just move mountains at a time but it's slippery under here yeah yeah this is still the original snow from the december 23rd snowstorm where it froze underneath it so that's what you're hitting i think you should have started down there and pushed all the way in but maybe tonight we can do a rematch all right you guys out of five gopros running three turned off on us it was cold some of you guys wanted to know what i thought was the fastest machine for sidewalk snow removal it's coming at you right now okay he cannot angle this blade so that's why he's pushing the snow toward the building but this dude cooks on this thing [Music] after seeing them run for years i'm convinced this is the fastest setup hey how you doing i'm doing good you're back another year on the yamaha i was going through youtube videos yeah did you see yourself on the cover and i said i think i got the same hat same jacket that was a couple years ago okay question for you how many linear feet of sidewalk do you guys clear oh yeah it's like miles and miles right oh yeah it's you know there's not that many long sidewalks right one two four buildings no the other ones are hand shoveling ones yeah but you guys do miles and miles which is this uh in like four hours right two hours now i come back and i smell okay it takes me another hour to do okay with me and charlie we can do everything two hours yup all right well thank you i'll let you keep going have a good one ground rules ground rules all right so now we got veteran versus veteran so it's not new guy versus old guy now it's we got just about the same amount experience but i'm in the asb and you are in your truck and you're claiming that this is in a skid steer lot go go go we hate this lot more than any other lot on our property and you'll see why in a minute tim is clipping it's a giant view all the snow has to be pulled back away and there's islands everywhere island island island island jog out and it's this one is perfectly divided in half you'll see the time lapse so cool so cool so you see how we pull away from the building and what i'm doing here my strategy is i gotta hog out so i gotta just start getting some of that snow down to the other end before i can really start doing detail work same thing with tim we we've worked together plowing for two two and a half decades and we work identical and neither one of us have missed the season and that much time so [Music] so gotta love the music danny picks i just like stuff that's different do [Music] i can't explain it any other way oh look at that and then you add in the clickety clad with the asd tracks and it's just like tonight we're drinking we're double fisting it it's a saturday night in my life and uh we are doing raspberry lime spin drift my second favorite and lemon which you guys know is my favorite my invisible element banners in the background lmn sponsors the channel and um i've asked them for a banner i'm really i'm actually really really proud to work with these guys because i think they are you know there's a lot of guys that i need help with my business and you know what can i do to get started and i started to check them out and not only are there software systems but a business management tool that helps guys dial their numbers in so tight because that's what lmn does is it helps contractors to really understand their business inside and out and when i learn that i'm like oh yeah oh yeah that is uh my true feelings about it i don't know man what do you think i don't know man i'm still going and you're done right you're like you're like three feet away from what do you think good bad good job no no what i didn't get my look at this i don't think i've ever seen stan move that fast why i love this part so i get it i push down this row and i get it in a pile let's see something am i gonna do it let's just see and i scrape it then backwards but watch how clean it screams backwards see how clean it scrapes forwards watch how clean we scrape fast backwards god these things i love these plows man it's just the best value for your for what you get i mean there's a lot of great plows out there but you you tend to pay a lot more for them i love how you can with these plows those side motorboards aren't fixed so you can right into a curve and it'll just go like and see like if it's a fixed motherboard if it hits a curve it's like this right because the the the force is going through the entire box which is connected to the machine so there's no give it's just hard the side motorboard on this has a pivot point so it goes like this so you hit a curve you just go literally i'm gonna hit a curve right here and nothing's broke and my machine is a jarred and i didn't put my head into the windshield i had a guy that i had a brand new box i just bought it and it was i was just new in the business you know just a young entrepreneur cost me 800 looks like stan might have it in the bag but it is like we said it's a skid steer lot it was the most expensive piece of equipment i had bought for snow plowing as in a pusher to that date i put it on a brand new machine put them on a brand new machine put an operator in there he came back 30 minutes later with my brand new box bent in half half destroyed it in 30 minutes hit a curve in rabbit gear also had a big knot on his head too that could have been a lot worse than it than it was we were lucky very lucky nobody got hurt so tim with this boss drag pro 180z can scoop backwards he can pull forward he can wing one side so he can actually wing a parking lot over with it one way or another way yeah yeah you really wanted to beat him holy crap dude i plowed the whole thing in rabbit here i should have never done that but i did it yeah i could tell i could tell i wasn't gonna let you win this time tim there's no way all right but here's the deal you and sam both claim this is a skitty lock do you have a truck lock then you have a lot you think you'd have the advantage in because i'll take you on but before we can get on to the next lot we get the call that alex and the regular cab ford got stuck got buried again i got buried again oh boy all right just stuck yeah okay no breakdowns nothing right no okay combination of four tires and pulled in there yeah you don't have no tire okay well i mean you're in there good too yeah it was a combination of the tires and i shouldn't even have pulled in there in the first place are you gonna have him push or what are you gonna have him do yeah looks like he's got a better chance of running out forward than backward all right well if you get out of the way i'm gonna start clearing around them [Music] i just use that compacted snow to get behind him and give them a little love tab the fronts are a little better than the than the bats see now you sound like me tim would always be like you know i think i need new tires and i'm like there's no wire showing what are you crying about [Laughter] okay so now do you do you say that this is a truck lot this is decent yeah this is a truck lot okay so the advantage should be yours probably okay yeah just want to make sure you feel this is okay what are we doing like just this run here i would i would say yeah just this run we'll split the lot in half which way do you want to go to that pile or this pile okay you go to this one i'll go to that one we'll start right in the middle we'll set the cameras up samuel hold this one for the story camera and we're good to go then round two three row round three well round two of youtube this is the uh this is the tie breaker between the titans okay go what are you doing go go oh he's hitting those curves blind and on the nuts [Music] so [Music] truck light truck lot yeah go gloat i think he won that one he did win that one it was yeah i think i guess the point is it's just i mean if he was just using a front fall by himself oh yeah there's no contest but what i think is awesome is like you can do what a skitty does oh backtrack curve i mean because running over it with the front plow keep back dragging you you compress it down and yeah this is just and you can run curves with it yeah are you i'm good i'm good these guys are good we're good all right back to our regularly scheduled jobs yeah all right but now with these back plows we don't tow skid loaders at all what we do is we just use the back plows in fact we've got a townhome association of 46 homes and it would take a truck with a front plow only and a skid loader combined four and a half hours to do it or nine equipment hours we got it down to using just one of these back plows just one back plow no one else three and a half hours so we literally dropped what is that six and a half hours of work just by getting one back plow not kidding that's why we now have four back plows and that's what we've got for you today hey you know what do me a favor hit that like button that goes a long way really appreciate it and thank you guys for commenting down below i see what you guys are doing you're helping the algorithm and god bless you guys it's so appreciated all right guys we'll catch you on another one
