so after sam and i got done filming plow snowplowing the long country road we decided to go out to the woods and do a tour [Music] and somebody needs to remind sam that there are more than one gear in a where is here this is the start we're gonna go out we got one two we got about four or five deer stands we're gonna check we're gonna look to shoot to open up some new shooting lanes and we're gonna scout for a location for a brand new stand and where i wanna put it is pretty inaccessible so i don't know if this thing's going to do anything or not but let's pull off the bike there's so much stuff in the way [Laughter] a little bit of gear in here that takes a lot of stuff to uh provide the high quality entertainment there it is all right i don't know if it'll do anything at all i don't think it's got the right kind of tires but all givers but we'll find out yeah um before we get going too much through the deep snow let's just take it up and down around here a little bit and let you get familiar with it and then uh i want to get your take on it and see what you think of it all right okay get your first unfiltered impression of this thing and you don't get to use the throttle so here's how this works you guys so if he hits this button it'll go like a motorcycle but if he pedals it it has pedal assist i ain't gonna say nothing more about that but it also shifts just like a bicycle brake brake it's got a battery right here uh this one it's in our mode so it's got a bunch of different modes so right now you can see that it's an r mode that's racing mode that's the fastest mode it's actually kind of an illegal mode i guess because it makes it more like a motorcycle than a bike but when you go in s mode that's standard mode then you can tone it down the third mode second first and then zero eco mode you can go like 50 miles and in zero mode there's no pedal assist so we're going to racing i mean why not put them in racing mode we've never ridden it before and we're on snowing make total sense doesn't it now just pedal it so this bike is called a hyper scrambler and in race mode i've heard guys getting it all up to over 40 miles per hour and it's got what's called pedal assist so when he pedals it it automatically accelerates to how hard he pedals it but it also has a throttle oh yeah it's icy underneath there you okay oh i'm fine i figured you were what do you think so far cool you ready to keep going you want to switch you want the bike or you want the old betty you want old betty come on all right all right let's see see how you doing here man all right i'm gonna cheat i'm just gonna use the throttle when you're not on snow and ice this bike is incredibly fun and with that pedal assist you would think that it takes the work out of it but it's so exhilarating that it just gets your heart thumping hey look it's still going all right hey look it's still going yeah i'm fine we're we're falling in snow it don't count ah come on man i was going way faster than you were [Music] so we've got 140 acres up in northern minnesota and it's divided into two parcels the parcel that we're on right now is approximately 80 acres and it's where all most of our hunting is deer stands are and it's mostly comprised of hills valleys we've got one open field and that's not even flat that's rolling i just love this land and the other 60 acres of land is right on a river front and that's where we keep the farm an actual operating farm where our horses and cows and things like that grow this is where we raise hay it's on those rolling hills somebody is shooting out here aren't they all right so here's our first stand we've got one shooting lane right there we got this field covered we got it covered that way this stand i think we're in good shape we'll go check out the next one over there so back through here is where the deer got covered and could come in so this area is good [Music] oh what do we got visitor somebody's got a home in here i don't blame them man they got a lot of good stuff what do you think mouse nest squirrel that's a squirrel nest that's a squirrel they're coming in up top okay well we know we got some visitors squirrel hole there so we got a little repair work to do on this one all right guys today we are drinking a new flavor lime lime spin drift this could be interesting it tastes like key lime pie if you were gonna drink key lime pie that's what this tastes like i like key lime pie [Music] all right guys this one the manure spreader stand overlooks the bridge is that manure spreader yeah we build them off manure spreaders cool would be nice if but let's go up in the stand and let you take a look at what it looks like when we get up there so this is the stand i usually use but it's getting a little bit more difficult for my uncle to get up into his stand which we're gonna go to in a minute in fact after you see his stand you'll be like i can't believe an 80 year old guy gets up in there this one opens down no good window goes to waste right so you open that one up move that out of the way put your stick in place and now this is our view so we get all the deer that come this way we can catch them that way this is one of our best shooting lanes right here but we need to clear that out i think okay see that then over here see that see that little trail going up in the woods up that way well below that trail they like to come through there but you can't see them very well so i think we got some work to do over there we get a lot of different animals up in this neck of the woods we've got a family of bear that live up here and we've also got a lynx that i just recently seen for the first time ever in my life zoomed across the road it was so cool the big ears the toughs on them oh my god that was awesome on that hill right behind me i pulled a badger out of that hill with my hands it was burying its way in and i grabbed it and yanked it out and i thought it was going to turn around and attack it because that's what they should do right now badger aren't that mean we've got porcupine a family of porcupine that every year raised their their young ends on this land and almost every year i'm able to find them i don't know why i can just find them you believe my 80 year old uncle uses this look at what he's got for steps i'm not surprised though he's got some old pallets oh that one's broke but hey no worries i've made it to 80 whatever yeah so i gotta have a i watch them try to tame a one time i was watching him break a mustang and the horse kicked him right in the chest and nikki and i were like oh no dude he flew back landed in the dust and he was like 65 at this point right flew black landed in the dust he gets up brushes himself off and nikki's like uncle tom you better stop you're gonna have a heart attack he's like you gotta have a heart to have a heart attack that was like the perfect line that defines my uncle tom that's pretty amazing how's he got this door bunkied he's got it tied here this is the best deer stand look at this view look at this how is this not amazing look at that lane lane this way you can actually see the trail coming up then they walk that way cut that way cut open here cover there so they come from the fields to go to the cover doesn't look like we got too much squirrel damage in this one he's got a little bow in the roof so everything sheds off the windows open up got his little heater in here all deer all of our deer stands have heaters he's got his necessities my uncle tom that is lemon drops and toilet paper what more can you need in a bag every deer stand has that you gotta have that but he never uses that but that's my nieces my niece isabella and my niece lexie come up here and hunt out of this stand now and here we go here's our our say fine and safe escalator down i mean what there's nothing wrong with that all right he doesn't have a handle there that's actually pretty cool yeah i mean he's got like a little piece of wood holding that together and there's a chain and i mean all sorts of extra safety precautions you guys see where i get it from now don't you i'm sure you do [Music] and i can guarantee you that i'm gonna tie this wrong and he's gonna come on who the heck was in my deer stand i don't know uncle tom it wasn't you this year you went and used the manure spreader stand so you tell me you tell me uncle tom conversations in my mind with uncle tom all right what do you want betty or the death trap oh i want betty i grew up on betty i bought betty brand-new honestly honestly i'll be straight with you sam anytime anybody takes betty i'm always like oh i just hate to see anybody else on her honestly i mean it's not like she's special or nothing but she is to me all right let's head back follow me yep we're going right back where we came from come on oh yeah fun fun at work [Music] see that rail right in front of us that's what cut my forehead off back when i was a young kid i was taking betty down through some swamps and it was all brushed couldn't see nothing and i climbed a bank and i figured i was just climbing a bank full of brush but the bank went like this and betty went up like this and flopped back right down and just sliced my forehead right off 60 some stitches the whole thing just flopped right down over my face that really freaked my mom off and i'm wearing the same helmet then that i am today pollocks don't learn sometimes [Music] get it girl [Music] all right guys well that's gonna be our adventure for today we've got coming up is snow plowing in a crippled truck uh no actually it's plowing hard pack so there was a lot that we do i've done this one lot for 28 years and it's kind of weird because i go in at night i clear the all the drive lanes out and then the cars have 48 hours to finally clear out of the lot but all that means is driving in and out for 48 hours packing whatever snow fell down and then i get to go in and scrape it up and with my plow truck crippled that's what we got coming up so that's makes it for an interesting video hope you guys enjoyed today's venture uh tour in my hunt and land if you like stuff like this let me know and um maybe i could throw another one together for you but hopefully we'll see you on another one hit that like hit that like that thumbs up button guys that goes a long way and i see what i see you're doing it and i truly appreciate it and i want to give a couple shout outs today you guys i want to give a shout out to gpc landscaping gordon said he dared me to may not if you like podcasts and deeper um dives and you know information that might help some of you guys out uh because that's where i'm putting all of my long interviews and things like that where we just you know talk business talk about what works talk about what doesn't work you know the good the bad and the in between just very candid very real very raw conversations i rehearse absolutely zero and in fact i tell the guests to not talk to me before the show starts i like to discover who they are how they operate on the air together it's called landscape disruptors check it out god bless you guys i love you guys thank you so much for all the help i see you doing it i notice it and i appreciate it we'll see you on another one you guys
