What happens here

This video documents the end-of-season routine for a landscaping business, covering the winterization of various zero-turn mowers, general yard cleanup, and organizing equipment and materials for the off-season. It highlights challenges like unexpected warm spells requiring late-season leaf removal, equipment transport logistics, and maintaining a tidy workspace. The process includes starting stubborn equipment in cold weather, performing basic maintenance, transporting machinery on trailers, and using heavy equipment for ground leveling.

well it's almost time to put everything away for the season or at least that's what we thought when we started to put everything away for the season it's been really warm and then like really cold for the last couple of days there she goes [Music] she's a little mad at ya so we thought we had a pretty rock-solid plan and the season was over and then mother nature decided she had plans of her own the first thing that we do is we just go through the mowers give them a once-over from top to bottom look at all the belts look at everything change all of the oils check all of the blades pull those off go through all of those make sure that everything is just visually good if we've had any noted problems during the year that's when we'll address them especially if they're bigger problems we use the winter time to catch up on any major issues or repairs but luckily we haven't had any reminds me you know we stripped ours down all the way and we used materials so do you guys remember that toro video where i was mowing the abandoned uh mall to the police came and then i was in that bowl and i just beat that back onto that toro titan max that's this mower and i forgot to show you the blades so we're gonna take a super close look at these here just a moment you can see that this is a conundrum they're nicked all right some of you guys wanted to know how the blades fared if you haven't seen it yet the toro i took this to abandoned mall then i went went and mowed the bowl i molded concrete alex we show us how these blades held up because we didn't get to show them they're pretty bent there bent but not chipped up too bad there the yeah that's the weird part the edges just aren't chipped but the look is it see you know is that possible that it was designed that way or something i don't know i mean is that i mean i don't think you would be getting a very even cut if this side is lower than that you know on a straight plane that was lower than over there so be cutting lower than there so i would imagine they were straight yeah so then they got i'm just i would expected them to be more necked and what were you hitting rock or dirt both everything [Music] so the boys are getting everything ready to get put away but then we get a warm spell and the calls start coming in hey can you do last minute fall cleanups so we switch gears again so to get all the mowers down to the yard where we're gonna store them it takes two trips basically and alex is gonna skip gonna take this little x mark which gets used a lot for some reason and turn it sideways so that we can now put another mower behind it i'm guessing a lot of you guys do that oh he's putting the toro 51 inch on sideways too now this is the second trick that that right mower right there you guys are looking at that's everybody's favorite mower on the crew they just love that more for hills for cut quality just all-around well-built machine this gravely right here hydro smoother we did end up just getting brand new blades for the toro titan max now that's not my mower i have to give it back but i think i've got him talked into letting me hold on to it for a little while because i want to do a test of time on that thing today guys we're drinking spin drift i love this stuff it's just got two things real fruit and carbonated water and that's it no added sugars no added nothings but it does have a little bit of sugar just from the fruit that they squeeze into it a lot of you guys are like well i can make that myself and you absolutely can make this yourself all you got to do is get the perfect balance of carbonated water then the just right amount of real fruit juice and squeeze into that and then stick it in a nice little can and seal it up so that anytime you want it you can crack it open and have it yourself or you can spend 89 cents and get a can from the cat or the grocery store uh so all we have left to do is we need to go drop that trailer back off and then we need to come back and grab the big orange trailer and get that moved too so a little bit of running around left and that'll be that for the day so this is our lawn care trailer and this is our dump trailer this is a still well jack i don't care who you are how many times you use it you still love it every time you hit that button listen to sam god that is slick it is it's it's the bee's knees man it's the bee's knees that still well jack is worth the price of admission right there god it's just oh i love that jack man i'd i'd have that on every piece of equipment i own if i could oh do you guys like my new element banner still haven't got one ellen ben sponsors the show element's a phenomenal company for contractors landscapers lawn care guys it's really helps guys dial their business in but they're not so hot at sending you out a banner just saying [Music] [Applause] nice it's december 9th and alex and i are going and doing some yard clean-outs we got leaves we're going and cleaning up what the heck oh yeah we're on our way down the yard we're going to meet him there get loaded up get trucking and get this done so take a look at the yard because what we're going to do next after we do this yard cleanup is we're going to go through this entire yard and change it so this is your before picture who's all we took but we um we don't have like a dedicated leaf like a box truck with a leaf blower vacuum so we use the big dump trailer we've got two dump trailers and one of the dump trailers uh the orange dump trailer we use for carrying debris the black dump trailer we use for dirt let me just talk real quickly about the differences the black dump trailer actually is a smaller trailer with lighter axles but we use that to carry more weight and hear me out the smaller trailer with lighter axles the black one can carry more weight legally now the orange trailer actually has heavier duty axles and technically can carry more but the trailer itself weighs more and so legally we can't carry more now how much can it handle safely in comparison to the other trailer is another topic all together both are amazing trailers the black one is sure track the orange one is texas pride and the orange one we use it for stuff like this carrying bulk it's got a 16 foot box and four foot size means we can load it up with more lighter material and legally carry it down the road the black trailer is a 14 foot trailer with like i don't know two and a half or three foot sides and so i can't carry as much bulk but it's a lighter trailer because it has less material on the trailer which means we can carry more weight in the trailer does that make sense and here's a really cool motor we need to get one of those things for plowing snow good lord oh this is such a big complex i'll tell you what boys we're gonna get our steps in today can you believe we're doing leaf cleanup when we should be doing snow plowing what a year what a year i don't get it we've got we had snow in october we plowed in october this is december like ninth here we are doing leaf cleanups we actually we plowed twice before this you gotta roll with it you just gotta roll with it okay you see all of our hand tools here the way we winterize those is we basically just run them out of fuel so there's no fuel in them all right guys well today yard day we're gonna get uh everything down here all picked up cleaned up put away looking all nice and pretty for the spring i don't know about you guys but i really like this kind of stuff yard days are fun but i don't know i'm pretty organized person so kind of like doing this sort of thing um so yeah we got a lot of stuff to get rid of a lot of stuff to put away a lot of stuff to find spots for so let's just get into the day any of you guys have your yard end up looking like ours at just over the course of the year you know you get busy the guys get tired at night anytime we have a valid work day we're actually on jobs so all of the kind all of this kind of stuff just gets deferred to the end of the year when we actually can have a little bit of time now if you watch i think alex stuck the cmp hydra bucket on because watch house watch how nice right here he gets this grade otherwise we got a lot of ruts in her yard he's got to be hydro bucketing this i don't know but i mean it just looks like it i don't know that he's got the hydra bucket on here or not but the hydra bucket has a built-in power rake and it's only got a i think it's a four inch bar so it's a smaller power rake but when you just need something convenient this is kind of like the best of both worlds type of a scenario all right so we had some nasty old rickety saw horses we dug out of the corner over there so we're gonna take this chunk of plywood here we got off of one of the other jobs and make us a little table april wilkerson and jimmy diresta eat your heart out man i know these guys are probably watching the video right now taking notes how did they ever craft such an amazing work platform sketchy table and i have no clue what this stuff is i'm just glad it's going into a bucket and not one of my pieces of equipment all right well not done most way done i'm gonna call today though so we got obviously all of our pallets stacked up along here we're gonna use this bit here to park all the machines or all the skid steers i should say we still gotta get rid of all that got this looking all nice and organized over here then alex went through and regraded everything the whole yard so hopefully we won't be getting some of the wet spots that we normally do in the spring this isn't quite done back here yet but we got like random materials and then i'm gonna get some of this junk back here over there and then we're gonna line up all the attachments through here so we can just come in with the skiddy hook up to whatever you need and get gone and then the last little bit over here um got all the recycling i'm gonna get rid of that um and here's all of our oil and whatnot gotta get that over the recycling center too um so yeah not quite done in here either but i'm gonna get like a little rack rigged up for all of our hand tools over here we'll do that tomorrow and then i need to rig something up that we can get a chain and lock all these packers and other stuff down so yeah i feel pretty good about this it looks more gooder sam he loves saying that i don't know why all right you guys so here's what we got coming down the pipeline for you um this friday we're going to be putting a truck versus a skid steer snow plowing three different lots one the first lots kind of like the combo lot truck or skate loaders no favorites there second lot is definitely a skid steer lot like this it favors a skid loader the third and final lot is a truck a truck lot favors the snowplow truck so that's coming down the pipeline the one i've got two videos i'm really excited about i like that one too you guys but the december 23rd snowstorm was probably the coldest blizzard i've plowed in years i actually had my phone and i'm like hey siri what's the tempo and so he's like well i don't know what the wind chill is but it's negative 11 and i'm like oh holy cow and it was like blowing 40 37 miles an hour and i think the official negative temp was like it went from 45 in the day to down to negative 37 that night it was so bad that my gopros would freeze up every two to three minutes and you guys are gonna hopefully hopefully see some time lapses come up on that because i know you guys wanted snow plow time lapses right and so what you'll see me doing inside of the videos i'll make a couple passes and then you'll see me get out of my truck walk up the snow bank check the camera to see if it's still on walk back down if the camera is off then i gotta grab it i pull the camera in the truck take a second camera that's warm put it in place with the camera that froze up and i would just keep switching them back and forth so like a two or three minute time lapse probably had the cameras switched at least two or three times it was that cold i love really bad weather and i don't know why it's just amazing feeling when you're just going out there and it's just oh god it's just so cool so tell danny to hurry up on that one danny's the editor that works with me on this one and then uh there's another really cool video coming down the pipeline after that we got another snowstorm and it was so bad so slick out that the semi went right into the ditch and as tim was coming in he went right around it well what they ended up doing was a giant tow truck pulled it out of the ditch and they ended up pulling it into our lot attempting to fix it while we're snow plowing around it that was that was a cool night and the some of the footage in that tell danny to hurry up on that one too that's the record video and not to screw it up so we got lots of stuff for danny to do um and that's our video for today danny actually knows what he's doing i like teasing him uh but two things from you guys could you hit that like button it goes a long way and as you guys been doing i want to say thank you i want to say thank you for commenting i'm going to tell you right now you guys have been commenting some of you guys even just say commenting to help the algorithm it's just thank you that's all i can say i can't tell you how much i appreciate it and that's what we got for you today hope you enjoyed this video um i enjoy making them for you that's it god bless go get them we'll see out another one subscribe sketchy table
