The World's TOUGHEST snow plow

What happens here

Blake highlights the importance of proper weight distribution in pickup trucks during plowing. Standard plows often lead to a 70% front/30% rear weight distribution, causing front tire wear and reduced rear traction. Arctic offers an optional rear ballast kit, which is adjustable and can add up to 1500 pounds of weight to the rear. This rebalances the truck to near-factory distribution (61% front/39% rear), preventing excessive wear on front axles and tires, and significantly improving traction during plowing. The ballast kit is sold separately, offering flexibility for users with or without existing rear weight (like salt spreaders).

Goal: Explain the importance of proper weight distribution and the benefits of the optional ballast kit.

perfectionist can't be good with doing what's got to be done up front we get a big red bumper guard back here Blake talk to me about this thing why do we have this basket we have a weight balance kit it's adjustable but the intent of this is to get the truck working as a package as efficient as possible your factory rate distribution for example on this truck is 56 front 44 rear when you put just the plow on you're at 70 front 30 rear and that's with any blow that's with any plow any plow out there yep and so you weren't okay with that no it kills your front tires uh overweight your front axle and you have no traction in the rear so you have to plowing four-wheel drive which once again because your front axle so what we did is we want to shift that weight back to the rear and doing this with the weight that you put on we're at a 61 front 39 rear ballast so we're almost Factory ballast now almost back to normal and if you wanted to you could add more weight gonna go up to 1300 pounds and be perfectly Factory balanced if we wanted to if you wanted to so that makes the axles not overweighted and it makes the truck handle like it was designed from the factory just with more weight so the balance will be where you need it you're gonna have a lot more traction while plowing okay Nick I have a question for you yeah well now as I'm looking at this ballast kit is this got a be sold specifically with this plow or can it can they be sold separately or what's the scoop with that yeah so they're definitely sold separately so if you have another vendor's plow you want to add the ballast kit you can do that or if you have our plow and let's say you got a spreader in the back of your truck don't need the ballast kit makes perfect sense for you it can be completely independent so it that's not a requirement and it does not come with it it's just the way that Mr perfectionist wants to have that done because that's what Lucas was telling me he's a total perfectionist and I'm starting to see that but that's good for you guys because then you're getting the best possible thing so let's go over this one
