What happens here

This project demonstrates how to remove old, corroded bathtub faucet handles, including how to deal with a stuck and stripped screw. It involves using penetrating oil, a screw extractor set, and a handle puller, followed by cleaning the area, sealing the sleeves, and installing new handles.

so try as i might i cannot get one of these screws out hey folks that fix it guy here and i had to run home and grab some pb blaster all right this stuff hopefully will help me to get these right here off i'm trying to get these handles off and rebuild the shower diverter so i can get this whole thing up and running again so hopefully pb blaster will save the day so come along let's get to fixing [Applause] all right so this is pb blaster right anything that is rusted or stuck or frozen on you know you can use this for a lot of stuff this actually came subscriber recommended and it has worked for me on multiple occasions so you want to put a little towel down i want to catch that oil so i'm actually going to jump in the tub and i'm going to grab my six in one and am going to grab my adjustable jaw for a little bit more torque on this and let's just start with the one that i really need to get off all right dude that worked fast because i'm going to tell you i seriously i i could not get that off this stuff always impresses me oh yeah that was awesome try not to turn the water on too no so you can see that screw is starting to strip i don't really want that we might end up having to drill this out all right so i grabbed a couple more different screwdrivers i grabbed a number one and a number two phillips that's what i got and then i also grabbed the impact gun let's see what that number two does just spins number one stubby same thing all right let's get real with it here strip city all right so i'm back i grabbed this screw extractor set from warrior got this at harbor freight and hopefully this works for me right i've had this a while i've never used it i know that it's got reverse drill bits and we will see if we can get this hooked up when you start dealing with metal especially drilling it and getting shavings wear glasses let's try the little ones we'll just go in there a little deep we'll see if we'll end up breaking this or not i feel like i'm in it now so i'm actually the whole way through the screw now this stuff don't pull on it get it out of there but don't grab it you don't want no not sticking in your fingers or anything so now that that's actually drilled the whole way through the screw now we'll get that put in there give it a little tap a light tap tap and let's see see what we can do here hopefully it's in there pretty good i just feel like we'll break it let's hit it with a little more blaster get that in there nice and tight and that was living on a prayer right there all right holy wow macaroni dude like that totally worked out all right drilled that clean through got that on there hey harbor freight tool hooked us up so one last thing i'm gonna do before i roll home is take these handles off and i'm gonna put new ones on okay we will get this hooked up i'm gonna pop these sleeves off we'll clean them and to do that i've got this handle and sleeve puller this thing pretty cool little combo tool i'm fixing to show you how to use and if you see that piece right there it actually helps us to take off angle stops with this pre this little tool pretty crazy take this piece right here this spine and we're just going to stick that right in the screw hole and we're almost there all right these ends right here just going to clamp around the bottom of this like so find the desired location there's two little slots right here and you just go with the back ones or you can slide these both up and go with this one depending on the size of your handle and then just take this and start turning let's get that in there right start turning and as you do it should just pull this handle off ow okay that's why you wear safety glasses i don't know what that was but something just smacked me right in the cheek didn't look like anything broke off of there but something flew so it's kind of cheap and it just keeps popping off of this i mean this is exactly what this tool is for and it's just not allowing us to do it um we might have to do a little retrofit here in a second let's try a middle one holy macaroni you want to talk about something that was on there tight but if you heard that pop that was crazy i think that was no joke all right well we got one off best thing i could tell you is to keep pressure on that right there and right there and don't tighten so tight just push it and hold it for a minute give it a little time let it loosen up a little [Music] oh man isn't that a crazy sound these things it's taking so much to break them off it is wild dude they have been on there a long time i'm just gonna hold it there for a second maybe it'll help it oh yeah that's already you can see that's already like started to pop off see if we can get a different angle of that right there there we go that wasn't is actually battle pop i probably should have pb blastered every one of those all right well it did its job right we just give this all a little wash down let it set for a minute and we'll go scrub those other pieces so check that out cleaner and a little bit of scrubby and we go from looking like that to looking like this pretty sweet so i got a little bit of this dab quick seal plus this is actually clear and this is siliconized acrylic it is easy water cleanup and we just give it a little dry time this stuff's awesome then i just take a contractor sponge just go around it with my finger just make sure you get it all rubbed in the whole way around and so now once this dries it's going to be clear and now we'll just add new handles much like the old handles they come with phillips head screws like before we're able to take our six in one and you can take a little cap that has a c on it all right so this is the diverter and it actually has an arrow we want that down right now because water is coming out of the spout and when we turn this on it will be facing up and water will be going to the shower head we're back and hooked up good to go all right folks that harbor freight easy out reverse drill bit set by warrior that came through that actually saved our skin tonight and i know what you're saying like hey you didn't end up fixing that diverter well you know what that's another video if you can't see it on my face i have spit seriously just done and changing out the handles was a big enough project it's so crazy i really hope you folks are
