painter. In this video, we're going to show you how we remove the weather strips on a door. And typically, we got doors that we're going to be painting. We don't want to paint the weather strips, so we remove them. And a simple tool just to remove them with is a painters 5 in one. Or you could use any type of flat tool like a screwdriver. And this is a good do-it-yourself project. If you've got weather strips that have been previously painted by uh some painters or been damaged by a dog chewing them up or a cat chewing them up, you can replace them simply. Home Depot sells them for about $5 a piece. You can get a whole set of them for a door for no more than $15. And they're easily removable and easily reinstallable. And you remove them. You don't even have to have a tool, but sometimes a flat tool will work to remove put them back in. You don't even have a have a tool to put them back in. They just push in with your hands. So, I'll show you how you quickly remove them, and then I'll show you how you uninstall them. We're just going to open up the door. going to put our tool right behind the weather strips and then they easily pull out just like that. You can see sometimes you can grab them even possibly without a tool and they'll pull out. Makes it a little bit easier if you can just use a flat tool to get it started. And then they just pull right out. And these ones got a little bit of paint on them from a previous painter. You can see the paint on these right here. And it's diff. You can't get it off. So you can buy new ones to reinstall them. Or we actually have a video we show you how we paint them with a flat black paint before reinstalling them. But just to reinstall it, all you got to do, just push it in and it just pushes back in with your hands. Just slide it in. Get it all the way to the top and work your way down pushing it in with your hands. If you buy new ones, they typically come about 4 in too long. and you'll get down to the end and all you do is just take a regular pair of scissors when you get to the end and cut them to fit.
