Masking Windows Fast. How to use a painters hand masker. How to mask windows.

Shadow Painter. In this video, we're going to show you how we go about masking multiple windows and how I go about masking them quickly so we can get the job done a lot faster. I've got a garage door that has a lot of little square windows here. And this would be kind of the same if you got a French door that has a lot of little pane windows, and this is a fast, easy method to mask them quickly. And to do this, you're going to want to have frog tape. I use frog tape so the paint won't bleed through the glass. I've got another piece or another roll of 3M 2021 inch tape. I've got a hand masker that has 9 in paper and 1 in tape loaded on it. And then you're going to need a knife to actually cut your tape when you put the tape on. And my knife is located somewhere, but I can't find in my pocket. It's in your back pocket. All right. So now I got my knife. It was in my back pocket. And so you just want to have a really sharp knife. So you can cut your tape. And this is how I go about masking these windows. So you're going to just take your tape and you're just going to extend it beyond the actual glass portion of the window. Just like that. And you're not going to worry about it being extended too far. The next run is going to just start right there and extend beyond. And that run doesn't extend beyond. You can make it extend beyond the glass if you want, but I'm going to try to save the amount of cuts I have to make with my blade by just extended only half of the pieces of tape. So, just like that. Once you get it set on there on the glass, just like that. Now, you're just going to take cut your excess pieces off so you have nice square corners. This is why you need a really sharp knife. And then I just put my excess pieces right on the glass. Just like that. Then you're just going to want to push it down really quick. Make sure it's on the glass. Then I just take my hand masker, fill it in. Take my other roll of tape, the 3M. This tape is a lot cheaper, so I don't fill it in with the frog tape. If I just use 3M 3M 20 21 in tape to fill it in just like that. Now your windows masked off and you're ready to go off onto the next pane. And what I what I do is I actually do two panes at a time and then move on. And I'll show you one more time how we go about masking it. Again, I usually this I got to be on a ladder to actually get to these two panes, but I'll work two panes at a time. So, I'm going take extend the tape beyond both edges. Make sure you got some nice straight lines with your tape. If you need to extend all four corners beyond, you can extend all four corners cuz you can trim them all of them really fast. I'm going to trim all my corners now. You work two windows at a time. It's a lot faster than working one window at a time. Fill it in with my 3M 2020 tape. It's cheaper. Frog tape's about $5 a roll. The 3M 2020 tape's about a dollar a roll. So, it'll save you a lot of money. You don't fill it in with a frog tape. Just like that. You can see how fast I mass those two windows. And if you have a French door that has eight little pane windows on it, you can see how quickly you can mask. Um, that's a fast fast easy method of masking windows using frog tape and using 3M 20 2020 tape, 1in tape with 9 in paper. I'm going to show you real quickly again how we go about masking these windows. Going to take put my tape on, extend it both edges over about an inch. The next run, this one doesn't actually extend over. The bottom one will extend over. And doing that to try to save some tape and have less cuts will make it go a lot faster. The less cuts you have, the quicker it's going to be masking your windows. That way I stick the tape on the window. Instead of having little bits and pieces of tape you throw on the ground, you can stick it someplace on the window to fill in the window. Just like that. Show you one more time. Got my two windows done. Now I'm going to fill them in. Once again, I'm using one inch 2020 tape because it's cheaper to fill it in. Make sure at the end when you're done, go along, put your tape all the way down so you don't get any leaks when you actually spray your windows or spray around it with your airless sprayer.
