OUR BIGGEST FAILURE YET 😬 On Our Biggest Deck Ever!

What happens here

For the integrated bench, composite decking boards are installed vertically, creating a slatted privacy wall effect. This is achieved by first building custom box frames from pressure-treated lumber to hold the composite boards. Boards are cut to 15-inch lengths, and a jig is used for consistent spacing. A half-inch gap is intentionally left between each board, and the starting board on one side is full-width, while the other side starts with a half-width board to create a staggered, solid appearance when viewed straight on, preventing direct sightlines through the gaps. This technique is applicable for both privacy walls and functional aesthetic elements.

Goal: Install vertical composite boards for a privacy wall effect on the bench.
