Off grid solar well pump Day 1: Setup for install

What happens here

Locate the pre-dug post holes, which are 36 inches in diameter and approximately 76 inches apart. These holes will accommodate the 4-inch and 3-inch Schedule 40 galvanized posts. The primary goal is to prevent the posts from twisting once set in concrete. To achieve this, take scrap angle iron pieces, typically 1 to 1.5 feet in length, and prepare them for welding. This involves using a cordless DeWalt angle grinder with a grinding wheel to remove the galvanized coating and any rust from the welding areas on both the posts and the angle iron. Clean surfaces ensure a stronger weld.

Goal: Ensure metal surfaces are clean and ready for welding to prevent post twisting.

Tools and materials

  • 3-inch Schedule 40 Galvanized Post — The main support structure for solar panels
