What happens here

The presenter prepares a T-shaped valve assembly to control water flow into the trough. This assembly consists of a 3/4-inch ball valve with 3/4-inch poly pipe elbows connected on either side using hose clamps. One elbow will connect to the main poly pipe coming from the pond, and the other will serve as the water outlet into the trough. The T-valve is designed to be positioned so that the water flows out and down into the trough. The presenter explicitly mentions that these PVC valves are not UV tolerant and may degrade if exposed to direct sunlight for prolonged periods, emphasizing the need for consideration in placement or protection.

Goal: Create and install the water flow control valve for the trough.

Tools and materials

  • 3/4 inch Poly Pipe — Input and output connections for the valve
  • 3/4-inch Ball Valve — Controlling the flow of water
  • 3/4-inch Poly Pipe Elbows — Connecting the poly pipe to the valve and directing flow
  • Hose Clamps — Securing the poly pipe to the valve assembly
  • Screwdriver — Tightening the hose clamps
