Finish and Install Drawer Fronts
At 15:08 in
My Wife Wanted Fluted Wood Panels, I don't have a CNC.
What happens here
Begin by using wood filler to hide all brad nail holes on the assembled drawer fronts and fill any imperfections on the cabinet carcass. Once dry, sand all wood surfaces (vanity carcass and drawer fronts) meticulously, progressing through grits up to 220, to achieve a perfectly smooth finish. Apply a fruitwood-colored wood stain (e.g., Minwax) evenly to all exposed wood surfaces. Allow the stain to dry completely. For installation, carefully position each fluted drawer front onto its corresponding drawer box using shims or spacers to ensure even gaps on all sides. Drive a single 1-inch screw through the inside of the drawer box into the center of the drawer front (where the knob will be) to temporarily secure it. Remove the shims, pull the drawer open, and add additional 1-inch screws from the inside of the drawer box to permanently secure the drawer front. Finally, attach the brass knobs to the center of each drawer front.
Goal: Fill nail holes, sand all wood surfaces, apply wood stain to the entire vanity and drawer fronts, then precisely attach the fluted fronts and hardware.
