Morgan-McClure X Pipe Exhaust Sound Test: "Stock" LS Swap Longtube Headers (Science of Sound Pt1)

What happens here

The video shows the removal of the Dr. Gas "boom tube" exhaust system from the Monte Carlo. The presenter then lays out the removed system next to a different race car exhaust, a large Y-pipe setup from a 2001 Sterling Marlin Kodak NASCAR. He visually compares the two, noting that the race car exhaust is significantly longer and has different collector spacing. He also points out the current Speed Engineering headers on the car have vastly different primary tube lengths, with one cylinder's primary being much longer, contributing to uneven sound waves.

Goal: Remove the old exhaust and visually compare it to the new race car component.

on there oh got it off you can see how much different it looks it's a lot longer it's based on the exit where it is you can see how different the collector locations are on there and how far they are from the x for the x to do its best job it needs to be really close to the collector so when you have the on the speedway try y headers then at the primary collector you know back here and then the secondary tubes and then the merge so the whole collector was really long unit be enough to get on the transmission or on the crossmember with the regular squish four to one you don't have that extra distance involved i really have no idea where this is going to line up on this car we're gonna have to put some pipes in in here to extend it because the way this is now it would run into the transmission oh we'll obviously have to work around that we'll have more room under there i think whenever we get this car swapped over to a 56 magnum which we have all the stuff for it the whole american power drain swap kit it may end up poking out in the middle of the door which is fine just for sound purposes we're not gonna cut mod or any of this because this thing is like a relic if it got messed up might be really sad so we'll probably only drive around enough just to hear what it sounds like and then take it back off because i don't want to screw it up there's still rubber and stuff stuck to it so it's really cool how's it going pretty good if my measurements are correct we need a straight piece of three and a half uh 12 inches on one side and about 15 on the other side okay i don't know if we have any long sticks of three and a half do we we might i i moved all the pipes to the back so we'll have to look we got the pieces on there we'll say this thing does not fit on this car very well it is way too wide for the body but
