Morgan-McClure X Pipe Exhaust Sound Test: "Stock" LS Swap Longtube Headers (Science of Sound Pt1)

What happens here

The presenter details his strategy for modifying the ARCA headers. He uses a wire-based measuring tool (Furick Markout Pro) to precisely measure the length of each primary tube on the original Speed Engineering headers and on a competitor's (Kaslovski Dodge) header to highlight the significant length differences. His plan is to cut off the existing collectors from the ARCA headers and then carefully extend the shorter primary tubes to match the length of the longest primary tube. This will ensure acoustically optimal equal-length primaries before adding new Tri-Y collectors. He acknowledges the complexity and time investment, emphasizing his commitment to achieving the perfect sound.

Goal: Develop a precise plan for equalizing primary header lengths and adapting to the car.

bolted on the block side i can tell you right off the bat i do believe they're going to clear over here and over here against the steering shaft you will not find anybody else who is committed to making cool noises as we are as for damn sure just plop that header out and we'll see how it compares oh once i gotta get down to the o2 sensor kind of forgot about that if this does work i did buy uh more sensor bunks to weld into these headers there you go here's the old one out of the car they'll say it looks a lot okay it doesn't stick down that much farther that's impressive uh they're a lot they're a lot closer than i thought they would be it's like a whole six inches longer these ones pretty dang close other side actually the side i thought was gonna be the worst one is close but the passenger side not gonna work it uh it hits the starter and it hits the where the arm mounts on the bottom and if it didn't hit that then this primary would hit the frame crossmember right there they're too uh direct they need to go down that way more but we're committed to this now i already got these headers out i think what i'm gonna do is i'm gonna measure them up find out how far off the short ones are from the long ones get them mocked back up in there and see if i can cut them apart and make new primaries for the short sides to kind of like do something with them to give them more distance more curves to try to match the longer ones as opposed to building new headers from scratch and then add the try y collectors to the end try to get them as close as possible i just can't just can't put those ones back in i just can't do it i don't like it it doesn't fit with me i'm not going to be happy with this thing until it makes the right sounds don't get me on a senate because i don't know could end up making a whole set of headers for this thing from scratch i don't know we will see how far i am willing to take this but my feet are dug into the ground and they are not moving this car is gonna sound good or i'm gonna die on this hill trying it is now several days later i have been doing tireless research on header length information how they measured them what they used what matters what doesn't matter all that stuff i've come up with a lot a lot of really interesting stuff and we're gonna this video is getting way out of hand but we are gonna chop up those headers let's start with the harder side first which is the driver's side so we're just gonna shove it into the bandsaw and…
