Masking Carpet For Painting. House Painting Tips

What happens here

The video starts with an introduction to the task of masking carpet for painting, specifically in a stairwell. The presenter shows two types of painter's tape: Frog Tape Blue, which features paint block technology for windows and areas requiring precise lines, and Frog Tape ProGrade orange production tape, which is less expensive and lacks the paint block technology, suitable for general masking. He explains that he uses a 'finger tucking technique' for masking carpet and plans to apply 1.5-inch tape first, followed by 1-inch tape with masking paper over it to ensure maximum protection.

Goal: The presenter introduces two types of painter's tape, Frog Tape Blue and Frog Tape ProGrade Orange, and explains the 'finger tucking technique' used for masking carpet along walls. He also outlines the sequence of applying tape first, then paper.

right, I'm in the sterile now. I'm going to give you some tips and tricks masking this carpet. I'm going to be using a finger tucking technique. I um I use two different tapes um in this stairwell. I'm going to be using Frog Tape Blue on the window behind me cuz it has paint block technology. It doesn't allow anything to bleed behind it with that technology on the tape on the stairwell. This is the production tape I use. And this is Frog Tape uh Prograde production tape, the orange tape. A lot less expensive. Doesn't have paint block technology on it. Uh used to be um known as CP19, but now I'm going to get down here. I use inch and a half tape when I'm masking on carpet. And I mask with tape first and then I go back and put my paper with 1-in tape over the top of that. So, I'm going to show you and give you um some pointers on doing this finger tucking technique. That way you can get paint behind the carpet. Pull the tape. The carpet will fluff back up and it'll look like um the walls were painted before the carpet was installed.
