what tip size would you spray pre-cat lacquer from sherwin-williams with an airless so with an airless sprayer pre-cat lacquer uh i got a lot of experience using three tens three tens and four ten fine finish tips um and that's one of those now carry titan tips so you can go to our store store dot the idaho painter dot com and um we will um since he has the first questions why don't we give him something so let me see if i can go back and find his feed that was um that was d yes dean asked so we're gonna hook you up with a 50 gift certificate wow and um you can go get a couple tips so how does he get the gift card um that's a good question um you're gonna have to dm us no he's gonna have to go to our store store go to the idahopainter.com and that's our store no idaho painter.com is our store the item the idaho painter is our website but i said you're going to go to the store go to the store and there's a little chat box in the chat box you need to say i won the 50 gift card my name is dean and you need to give us your email address and once you give us your email address we will email the bid to you so um chris do you remove masking tape after each coat um if the walls ceilings are two coats no i don't remove the masking after two coats i remove it after we're all done a very good question i'll always stay away from my masking about a quarter inch and then um so i'll do one coat stay away from my masking then i'll go do my cut ins then i'll roll my second coat and then pull the cuttings um or pull the masking so it's still wet if you're working by yourself you're not going to be able to do the whole entire room um you're going to have to work wall by wall or two walls at a time i typically do two walls at a time so um so fast i have a question to you because i have the hello can you sin worldwide in the store we do ship worldwide so anywhere in the world right um we do but it can be expensive shipping but we have no control over that so um you go to the store you put your items in the cart pick the shipping method you want and you'll see what the price is so um chris started on youtube nine and a half years ago almost 10 years ago and um he exists to educate empower and equip and so you're on youtube and that's where he's putting out free educational content if you do not know we have paint life members on facebook it's a group you could join all you got to do is put your email address and answer a question and um that group is so that you guys can encourage each other and support each other and ask questions all right we got a question um what tip do you recommend for disinfecting um so i would use probably a 208 because you want a fine finish tip something that's not going to throw up a ton of product it's just going to fill a fine mist and a 208 would probably be what i would use so i was getting to the last part is the equipment okay whoa we have a dog with a toy and they both want the toy they want the toy so chris has been practicing being a grandfather and he got three of our grand doggies and we're doggy daycare with them but i wanted to let you guys know we do have a store and that's to equip you guys so that the tools that chris uses and people have been asking for years where can i get that so that's why we created the store and you go to idahopainter.com and that's the store and we already give away one gift card we'll give away a few more we'll give away a few more gift cards um idaho painter which order do you paint the trim so miss um fits 74 on a house exterior versus the body so we always spray the body first um i got a video kind of outlining what i do um watch my solo series and uh one of i think like the third um video i did in um painting house solo painted the house all by myself it's our my latest video series i talk about what i paint first and i always spray the body first and then do the trim next but you're going to have some overlapping colors like gables you're going to have things like down spouts you're going to have front doors man doors garage doors and um there's a time and a sequence that's gonna make you faster and more efficient to um doing that and it will change if you're solo or if you've got a team you need to put the camera down and show maya we got maya here so maya's vision is say hi maya that's maya and on this side so nani's down here yes so that's so they're um visiting they're visiting and there's two more two more so if you hear dogs barking and running around yeah we're doggy day care today hello item hey idaho painter what um what whip do you like to use more the yellow or the green so um yeah one of them's kind of one of them's lime green and one of them is kind of a yellow and i actually like the yellow one better it's on what i consider a pencil whip i call it a pencil whip the other one's a little bit bigger diameter it's the yellow one is a lot more flexible a lot softer there is one drawback to the yellow one inside diameter is smaller than the green um than the lime green one so you are limited on some coatings you probably can't run block filler through that which what is interesting is with both of them the one the yellow one um if you look at the inside diameter and if you compare paints um just typical house paint you the specs would say it wouldn't even go through the hose but we've been using a pencil whip like that with that same inside diameter for probably 15 years and no coating we've ever used has not gone through that inside diameter so um it's worked for us but that is a smaller inside diameter so she helps them but then she's gonna fight so who asked that question because i want to give them a 25 gift card to buy a thing [Music] do you know who asked that question um what was the question do you like which hose whip do you like better oh that would be sean stanton so shawn stanton so tell him how he can get his 25 gift card go um check out our store idahopainter.com and um down uh at the store there's a little app um that you could ask ask questions on and um ask you know say you won 25 gift card and give us your email address and we will email that gift card to you and you can purchase one of the whips just see which one you like the dog she's gonna like drive me crazy um edward f jones says has kovitz stopped all the paint life academy classes it has for this year so 2020 um we cleared the calendar and we're just gonna reevaluate um how things are in the winter to see you know if we're gonna schedule some here if we're gonna schedule some on the road we've talked to some companies we worked with and we're gonna go to their sites so that we can um be more accessible to more people around the country but with covid that has stopped that also so so on nick asks what is a good opaque stain um i didn't see let's see um and then ron what paint tip is best for painting decks so the opaque stain i watched your video when um white washed wood for your fireplace mantel so the opaque stain for wood i used um really like too i loot uh benjamin moore arbor coats and then um woodscape solid color stain from sherwood williams are two great um opaque stains that you can use for wood so um i have a question charles chesky says how do you fix one inch deep um and with hole in a brick wall so i always um keep concrete patch pre-mixed concrete patch in my vehicles concrete and stucco patch and i just use those um those uh pre-mixed patches they have like um some compounds in them like vinyl sealer and stuff to help them bond better so it's very simple i just get it at the local hardware store and it come in courts and i just use that to make a patch so barry says he appreciates your video on garage epoxy application very helpful and professional cool so we're glad that helped you um edward f jones um he's been chatting quite a bit he said he would sad he'd like to come meet us someday and thought it would be worth it to fly out here so we would love to do that also so you know stay tuned but um thank you for being with us and dialoguing with us and so edward f jones 25 gift card for you go to how does he get it um go to idahopainter.com that'll take you right to our store our online store we do ship worldwide that's where you can get our um shirts hats um here i just came out with a new shirt um and it's gonna be available in a couple days so okay and i'm designing another shirt make sure edward you give us your email address um at our store on the chat and that is how um we will get the gift card to you let me show you two paint brushes that i got sent this one you did not buy disclaimer it got sent to us that one i purchased one so i bought um i bought several of them they're over there these things um they're called the mallard and let's talk about which one first you want to do the melon first ergonomic design and um oh wait you have a skill right there oh my gosh i do have a morton so let me show you a good brush first here's a good brush so um this is from premiere this is a morton i just received these started testing them um they're extremely stiff and i really when would you use those uh so exterior interior this is um a chinex poly blended brush that could use into your exterior with really thick paint something um really thick i mean with today's paints um exterior having china x2 it's going to clean up a little bit um easier but it's a chinese polyester blend and um extremely thick but yeah all the way because let me show you what this thing um the mallard there's the head and it comes off so you can replace it so um i'm not sure what the value to that is how much you save by not having to buy your handle um this is really really cheap that's not very good quality the filaments are um i wouldn't say like a high quality filament they are sanded um too my question is the the velcro what is the velcro so the velcro so it's gonna get dirt like is it really supposed to stay on there it's gonna get painted really fast and then eventually it's going to get a paint and velcro won't work anymore but um what's it for so i'll show you so that makes i thought that was the eye but then it looks like you can change the head but the velcro is to oh just packaging it's packaging so you would take it off the velcro i don't well you always want to put your brushes back inside their cases so i don't think um because then without the velcro the case would just slide off so it wouldn't function properly that doesn't seem quite right though ergonomic i i'm for the life of me i don't see why this i i've never so one of the things that says it create um let me see okay it says see this brush has the velcro and it's not on the it doesn't make sense to have it on the brush so let me let me just ask you guys something and the very first thing on here it says reduce hand fatigue and i've been painting for a lot of years with um brushes just like this three inches and two and a half inches do you ever have to stop because your hands are fatigued i have never in my entire career felt like my hands um were fatigued and i was exhausted and tired and i never thought well this brush is causing my hand to fatigue so i'm not sure where the ergonomic thing comes into play but here's another thing is um you know your brush goes down in your bucket and it sits and it tilts up inside the brushes this is just going to fall down inside the bucket and you can put a brush body on it you couldn't put a brush body on it no no it says you can put an extension pole on it but i'm not sure what extension bowl you can put on it it's like a pencil one it's like um a little dowel maybe a proprietary um thing but i'm in a doubt um yeah so i haven't used it yet so i can't say here's one thing it says so if it reduces less fatigue um deliver better control um ensure cleaner painting removable brush hats the people from mallard are incredibly nice i've talked to them a few times yeah they wrote a really nice um so this one they wrote a really nice seven 7.2 ounces and um this one is here's a scale right here on his house so i'm weighing it so he was concerned that maybe it being heavier so 7.2 and 4.6 so 7.2 4.6 and you have a wider um so this one's actually got wider filaments so this is significantly lighter than this so this is going to be a lot heavier so is it going to cause is it going to reduce fatigue that looks like a cutting brush yes i'm so i'm not sure i mean yeah you're gonna have to try it you'll try it out so stay tuned he will be trying it out but there's another brush that was sent to you yeah so disclaimer that was purchased i want to know because this is what i thought there could be something here to um this i mean to the value of that i mean changing out your heads and um there may be something there so not to mess around with it if you're if you start to get enough paint on that head is it gonna are you gonna be able to change it out is it gonna come off so i'm not sure so i i bought them i think they were i paid like 60 bucks for a couple of them so not cheap they weren't cheap so i bought them this one just showed up um in the mail show the little website so there's the website um the perfect paint edger.com so this is one pretty dang complicated device right here so um here's the ethereal i mean we've all seen these little the edgers you know um i don't believe in the edgers at all i don't i don't use them i know that do-it-yourselfers you know home depot that sells them and stuff but this is an edger now that has um bristles along the edge for um cutting in and this little device is going to run say right up against you know your window trim door jamb and that's going to slide along there so now you're just going to edge with that and i guess this tension spring to load it up you lift it up like this now i can load it up in my little pan um now i can begin cutting the end and that is one complicated device well i mean you'll be tested and here it does have replaceable pads so you can replace the pad so so this is kind of fun for you because you like testing out new products yeah so i don't like i don't have an opinion on either one of them because i haven't used them i have initials i have initial thoughts yeah um i have initial questions like you know my first question on this one was reduce hand fatigue yeah it's so heavy is it gonna cause more fatigue because it's so heavy so stay tuned he's got some new toys to this one i think is just like a pretty cool desk piece so far it just i like does it stand up it does stand up it like just stands up so um yeah i don't know has anybody has anybody tried the two of them so somebody said they're really cool people and yeah they said um the mallard people sent me a pretty cool letter thank you very much and um in with my purchase so um i've never met either one of the people um so i don't know so claudson has a question what's more efficient spray paint body of exterior home first then shield and spray the trim or spray vice versa how do you do it i always roll the trim so i spray the body for speed of application getting the paint on but there's a lot of times you have the back roll after i'm spraying so i just did a video doing a cabin and that's going to be posted soon and i see people do fences log cabins on decks and they're spraying and they're not back rushing and that's going to be an issue a year down the road two years down the road you a lot of times the sprayer is speed of application so you don't have to keep dipping your bucket or dipping your roller so you're applying the paint fast so you can back brush our back roll to enhance enhance penetration and adhesion so they work hand in hand so misfit 74 says i've watched nearly every paint video of yours since buying my first house april 4th 2020. thank you so much for watching and we want to send you a 25 gift card to our store cool you need to go to idahopainter.com and you need to just message us saying i want a 25 gift card and then give us your email address and we'll get that gift card to you cool so thank you for watching and i hope it's helped yep um any shout outs do you have there um i have heard that people like them behind toilets compact which ones these yeah cause i don't think people know about the other thing um i guess it could um what i use to get behind toilets is a mini roller um mini and you also i did a review just recently and um who a whiz whiz came out with a flex frame mini roller that i was so amazed when i saw it at the national hardware show i was like holy cow that's amazing oh yeah i put it in my store so that has a really long handle it has like um like an 18 inch handle i think 12 to 18 inch and it flexes so you can flex it to get it down behind a toilet and it uses like a little six inch um microfiber mini roll yeah that's actually really good that's a must-have tool for every professional painter the flex frame uh mini roller from wiz so we do have it on our store so so um started a painting business this year i've been watching your whoa cancel that let me see watching your videos big help thank you very much um claudson thank you very much for watching so um misfit says how many gallons of paint should i really expect to buy for a 1400 square foot exterior home um 1400 square foot roughly um does it depend on how many colors depends on how many colors um if it was only two colors you're probably going to be around you know 15 gallons but then it all depends on you know how um you know what color you choose how many colors you choose how bad a condition the paint is in if it's been painted within the last five years it's not going to take nearly as much paint you know to paint with but on i mean i'm gonna you know put quite a bit of paint on that thing and 1400 square feet is a pretty small house and does that include the garage and stuff but i would i wouldn't think it would take more than 15 gallons so jerry you says diy painting my house stucco to the ground but how to paint the how to paint the ground without painting oh how to paint the stucco but not paint the ground so you just did a deck recently and i saw how you guys dug down you know to get the post and then you buried it back up so if stuff goes all the way to the ground what would you do because you don't want to paint the ground um i would mask it with frog tape so i'd mask with blue frog date and just around the whole base yeah around the whole base so um put some masking paper down and then i do mask with nine inch paper and then i would um put a drop cloth out after that so if i was uncomfortable with over spray most of the time you'll see my videos nine inch paper if you know how to control overspray not have your pressure up too high not use um blown out tips um and spray properly keep a proper distance nine inch paper is gonna be good enough and if you got a dry climate it's not very humid so one um person i didn't catch the name but asked about um they see me do something unusual and you see…
