LUMBER PRICES ARE CRAZY! Let's mill up this old log and make our own!

What happens here

If the log has a 'crook' or bend, subsequent cuts are made to square the log into a rectangular 'cant'. This may involve rotating the log multiple times and making several passes with the sawmill blade until all four sides are flat and parallel, removing the irregular portions. This process ensures that straight, usable lumber can be extracted despite the log's natural shape.

Goal: Transform a natural log into a rectangular cant for straight lumber.
