Prepare Workspace and Locate P-trap

What happens here

Move beneath the sink to access the plumbing. Locate the P-trap, which is the U-shaped section of pipe directly below the sink drain. This section is designed to hold water and prevent sewer gases from entering the home, and it also catches heavier items that fall down the drain. Place a container (such as a plastic bin or small bucket) directly under the P-trap to catch any water that will be released when the trap is disassembled.

Goal: Set up the area to safely access the P-trap and contain potential water spills.
