Learn Something New! How to Plant, Grow, Harvest and Preserve Shiitake Mushrooms!

What happens here

Once the freeze-drying process is complete (typically after 17-24 hours), the machine will indicate that heating is complete. It's recommended to heat the trays after drying. Open the drain valve on the side of the freeze dryer to release any condensed moisture into a bucket. This prevents new moisture from condensing onto the dried food. Then, promptly transfer the dried mushrooms into Mylar bags. Add an oxygen absorber packet to each bag, ensuring it's not consumed. Finally, use a bag sealer to create an airtight seal on the Mylar bags. These sealed bags can store the freeze-dried mushrooms for 20-30 years in cool, dark, and dry conditions.

Goal: Store freeze-dried mushrooms for long-term preservation
