Learn Something New! How to Plant, Grow, Harvest and Preserve Shiitake Mushrooms!

What happens here

Using the cordless drill, drill holes into the logs at intervals of approximately 6-7 inches. After drilling, insert the shiitake mushroom plugs into each hole. Use a rubber mallet to gently tap the plugs fully into the holes, ensuring they are flush with the log's surface. Next, use a small paintbrush to apply melted beeswax or paraffin wax over each inserted plug. This wax layer seals the plugs, protects the mycelium from drying out, and prevents contamination. Once all plugs are sealed, position the logs in a suitable environment for mushroom growth, either laying them down or standing them upright. It's noted that laying them on the ground tends to yield better results.

Goal: Inoculate logs with shiitake mushroom plugs and set them up for cultivation
