Leaking Tub Spout? How to Fix a Dripping Bathtub Faucet FAST (DIY Plumbing Repair)
What happens here
Before installing the new stems, apply silicone grease to the O-rings and any rubber components on the new valve stems and the new rubber washers/springs. This helps create a better seal and makes installation easier. Carefully insert the new rubber washer and spring into the faucet body, ensuring they are seated correctly. Then, insert the new valve stem into the faucet body and hand-tighten it. Use an adjustable wrench to firmly tighten the stem, but avoid overtightening. Repeat for the other faucet. After installing both stems, give the internal area a quick clean to remove any old debris or caulk.
Goal: Replace the worn-out internal components and install the new valve stems.
