What happens here
Install the new vent ductwork from the exterior of the house, ensuring it is securely fastened and sealed. On the interior, cover the original vent opening with a piece of drywall and secure it with screws. Use aluminum tape to seal the new, higher vent opening, ensuring it is airtight. Install blocking around the new vent opening to provide support for the future range hood. After the vent is moved, install drywall patches over all original openings and newly cut areas that are not for fixtures.
Goal: Relocate the range hood vent and prepare wall surfaces for finishing.
