Kitchen Makeover + FINAL FINISHES (EP.5)
What happens here
Apply drywall joint compound (hot mud, also known as 5-minute mud) to all patched drywall areas. This type of mud dries very quickly, allowing for multiple coats in a short period. Mix the hot mud in a bucket with water using a drill-mounted mixer. Apply the mud using a drywall knife or trowel, ensuring a smooth finish over the patched areas. After the mud dries, lightly sand any rough spots. For dust-free sanding, a damp rag or spray bottle can be used to thin the mud while sanding. Once sanded, apply a matching orange peel texture spray (e.g., Homax Wall Texture Orange Peel) to blend the patched areas with the existing wall texture.
Goal: Smooth and texture patched drywall areas.
